35 this morning with a pink sunrise suggesting some sunshine this morning. Yesterday we got .5 inch of rain with up to one inch across the border in Idaho. Been pretty dry so the rain is welcome. Our “fake spring” as Mags calls it is ending with below freezing temps and snow in the forecast for next week. Bummer. Just when the golf courses are starting to open.

Nothing planned for today so far, might go into Spokane and exchange a pair of shoes I bought that might be too big. Gotta try on the next smaller size.

AccuWeather is calling for a high of 76, our local TV weather forecast is calling for a record setting high of 86 .... can't remember seeing such a large difference .... no matter which is closer to being correct, its a wonderful day .... specifically, back to shorts and sandals .... .... only thing on today's agenda is hauling off a load of trash​

We went biking yesterday afternoon and spent the evening visiting with neighbors from Sauk
Rapids. It should be a nice day today but a little windy.

Didn't you have a single shot black powder pistol? Maybe I'm thinking of somebody else.

I remember a couple of rendezvous's that had a pistol trail walk. One was a rifle, pistol, knife and tomahawk trail walk and you even had to set a medium sized trap.

No, I have a 1860 Colt Richards cartridge conversion. But here in Chinada now can’t buy handguns or sell them. If you own one and want to shoot it, need special permit from RCMP to take it to the range and back. Stop for a coffee along the way and get caught with it? No more firearms for you, big fine and maybe some criminal charges along with it.

Good reason to only keep a flintlock which isn’t classified (yet) as a firearm, but an antique regardless of date of manufacture.

So you have to shoot a handgun at a public range? Is it OK to shoot your flintlock at home on a safe shooting range and could you also shoot a pistol like mine at home?

Licensed handgun range only. Can’t discharge a pistol anywhere else legally. Can shoot flintlock at home but strict rules on distance from roads or dwellings. I shoot at my black powder club range.

44' with on/off lite rain. Dry under the trees. Similar expected throughout the day. Maybe 52' later. Temps in the forecast suggest we'll be waffling back and forth between Winter and Spring temps for the next 7 days. Starting to feel more like Spring though. Had to mow the house lawns. Though not yet lush, what's there was tall and spiky. The field grass is getting very thick and tall, but the ground is too soggy to mow, except for the grass either side of the property entrance. That is higher ground and well drained and it did get mowed.

Thanks. The brush was too green to burn good. It burnt but needed constant attention.

Sorry for all questions. Are percussion cap rifles OK at a home range or do they have to be a flintlock?

When I used to shoot black powder I only remember very few that shot flintlocks. Interesting that 2 of the best local shooters shot flintlocks. A friend let me shoot his several times and I did pretty good with it, his .50 flintlock had a swamped barrel so it was actually easier to hold steady than my .45.

Rifles are ok to shoot pretty much anywhere you are not near roads or dwellings.

Im just keeping my flintlock. I’m selling all the others. Pistol too if they ever change the laws about buying and selling.
