I’m boycotting Dear John’s because of their business practices of keeping ownership of the tractor brains.
Part of the reason (claimed) for that is anti-theft. Releasing access to the brains supposedly would allow reverse engineering ant-theft protections to be defeated. Don't know if you saw it or remember it in the news, but when the Russians started invading Ukraine, they were stealing modern John Deere tractors. John Deere responded by disabling the tractor brains.
My Subaru Outback can be tracked and disabled via satellite but I can still take it wherever I want for service. John Deere just wants the service money. There is currently a class action lawsuit against them and if they win the automotive industry will follow them.

Thanks. I didn’t know that. I wonder what happened to the lawsuit.

19F after a low of -3F. The good news is it’s snowing again. It’s hard to measure because of the drifting but I’d say we have 12-14”.

21 and frosty around here. High in the mid 30’s expected. Cold again tonight but no snow for the party folks. Tomorrow evening brings in the next front with snow/rain expected most of the day Friday and into the weekend.

No big plans for tonight and the advantage of living in the pacific time zone is we can watch the ball drop at 9:00 our time and go to bed.

Of course at midnight all the fireworks will happen even tho it’s illegal to shoot them off. That will wake us up but hey…..happy New Year! :D

As of August, it was still pending.
