Not to brag but my Kubota's cab is so warm that I plow snow in my shirt sleeves. I used to have an open cockpit tractor like that but Carol decided I'm too darn old for that, so I got me a newer one with a cab.Sir Henry wrote: ↑Mon Dec 29, 2025 1:36 pmThe temperature isn’t all that bad. I just spent four hours on the tractor plowing in 13F and 16 mph wind with gusts to 37 and was toasty. I have extreme weather clothing. It’s when I’m going somewhere and will only be outside for five minutes when I get cold because I’m NOT dressed for it.

Nice toy!!! Yet, I would not want play in that much snow. Back in the early 90s, I was in Sturgeon Bay to take delivery of a ship. It was one of the last places that still built wooden ships. It was a nice area. But, we had to leave before the bay froze. If not, the Navy would have to do without a ship for a few months longer and pay us to play in the snow. So, it must get really cold up there. Nevertheless, it was a pretty area.Sir Henry wrote: ↑Mon Dec 29, 2025 1:36 pmThe temperature isn’t all that bad. I bought a Kubota lawn mower. They make a cab for it and I could get a front blower for it. The problem is I’d have to sell another kidney to be able to afford it.cooperhawk wrote: ↑Mon Dec 29, 2025 3:25 pmNot to brag but my Kubota's cab is so warm that I plow snow in my shirt sleeves. 23 this morning but we may see a high today above freezing. Low to mid 30’s possible. Same tomorrow and then warming up with temps to 40 and the lows around 30.
Well one positive about this no snow winter (so far) is I haven’t even put the snow blade on my side by side yet. I have moved a small amount of snow off the concrete areas with a shovel a couple of times but that is it. Feel bad for you folks in the upper Midwest and the northeast. Saw a report from Syracuse this morning with a foot of new snow and a brisk wind. Not pretty.

They are spendy. I always thought it was John Deere because they are the color of money, but Kubota has them beat.

I’m boycotting Dear John’s because of their business practices of keeping ownership of the tractor brains.cooperhawk wrote: ↑Tue Dec 30, 2025 11:32 amThey are spendy. I always thought it was John Deere because they are the color of money, but Kubota has them beat.

Part of the reason (claimed) for that is anti-theft. Releasing access to the brains supposedly would allow reverse engineering ant-theft protections to be defeated. Don't know if you saw it or remember it in the news, but when the Russians started invading Ukraine, they were stealing modern John Deere tractors. John Deere responded by disabling the tractor brains.
