Ruger .22mag Precision Rifle report

When I worked midnight patrols, I was often assigned a zone in which our county's sports facility was located. It had eight ball fields in it. I would patrol the closed facility during that dead time between 0200 and 0400 when it was hard to stay alert. I'd park the car in the center of the location of the fields, among the snack bars, check them all for security. (You know, to make sure they hadn't been broken in to,) then walk the fence lines of all the fields. Those lime green softballs glowed in the moonlight, rarely did anyone fetch the ones the folks hit over the fences. I collected them and tossed them in my duty bag. Same with the lost golf balls the duffers would chip over the fences. Usually find baseballs as well.

I ended up with a huge plastic horse's water tub filled with the mix, and I'd take them and screw an eye hook in, and hang them from a T post. They dance and spin when shot. Action targets were always a kid favorite and they were free.

I used to have a Ruger American in wmr and it was real picky on ammo. Ultimately it liked the Winchester Super X hollow points best. However your group shown above is great, definitely minute of ground squirrel at 50 yards. I sighted mine in at 75 figuring I could do a body hold from 25 to 100 with the speed of the wmr.

A quick update.

Y'all are probably gonna have a little fun with this at my expense, but that's ok. I figured that as long as I'd already bought the MBUS sights I might as well put 'em on even tho I'll likely never use them except for sighting them in or the occasional pumpkin, etc. Besides they make the gun look more like a evil sniper rifle.

Yeah, there at 90* since they don't fit at 45*.

That's a good round for them. Y'all keepin' 'em under control? We kill about 60-70k every year, but the population keeps growing. Here's some videos from USDA for MS, OK, TX as of 2020.

Here is a look at the Pig's Pill, IF we ever have any show up. When Miss Tina came out to look at the house, she told the owner that I was a former Marine, LE Firearms Instructor, Competitive Shooter, and asked if they had an issue with PIGS since I had been watching the videos online and seen that Oklahoma and Texas did... I guess he thought I WANTED there to be pigs so he told her yes, lots of piggies.

I started to look for a 308, to insure clean kills, didn't want them tearing up the garden Miss Tina was going to have, or messing with the livestock feed stores. Found the AR10 in a local area gunshop and came up and bought it when we got moved to Oklahoma before we closed on the house. Great deal and I hadn't seen another 308 that looked decent in the area.

Found out after I moved into the farm that there weren't any pigs in the area, although South and west they did have a big problem. Had thought about trading it, but it's a very nice gun, and I got a great price. Not costing me anything and I am slowly building a stock of 308 ammo. Think I'll keep 'er unless someone offers me something I want more in 223 which I have a LOT of ammo for...
