Marlin 1895cba

Just picked up a Marlin 1895cba. 18.5 inch tapered octagon barrel, 45-70.
Been seeing it for almost a year at my LGS. Finaly took it in to the fold. Matches my 26 inch Cowboy 45-70.

Congrats on your new Marlin - we have one and it has turned out to be a great little big-bore lever gun, but man, does that thing kick when you launch factory 45-70 out of it - highly recommend a recoil pad. Here's a pic of ours with a Buffalo Arms recoil pad...

Hey O, I know that CB stands for Cowboy, but what is a CBA?

I have a pair of Marlin 444's so I haven't a need fer a 45-70.

Congrats Oja it looks like it might hurt without a recoil pad. But I know you reload and you can tame some of that with reloads.

Will you please explain that? I have only had one Marlin lever action (1895 STP .45/70)and I don’t recall anything special about it that made it easier to maintain than other guns. I actually had trouble with it because it had two bad bore constrictions that were hard to work around, and I had to fire lap it. But OTH I have never owned another brand.

Marlins and Henry's are very similar. They clean and come apart the same way.

An 1895cba is something Marlin talks about on their sight.
CowBoy Action.
The CBA is not on the barrel it's marked CB just like my 26 inch CB.
The Marlin sight talks about a slicked up Reciever on the cba but I can't tell a difference.

Just been thinking about getting a carbine and this made more sense to me than a Henry or Marlin 1894.
I've been shooting the 26 inch 19895 for over a year now with low and slow cartridges and having a lot of fun doing it.
I believe I understand the limitation and think I can develope a home defence round for this rifle.
