That's a most glowing write-up of what sounds like a fantastic rifle, so thanks for sharing. He writes of there being so many different versions and variations other than just caliber. Can you tell if the one he reviewed is just like yours?

Excellent article, RR, on a special and important historical rifle. Mr. Taylor really likes it, and his review is glowing.

I don't have one yet but should be getting my Henry reproduction in a few weeks. I went with the New Original Henry from Henry. So whether it's from Uberti or Henry Repeating Arms it's one of those firearms that are just plain gorgeous to look at and just truly fantastic to own and I can't wait to fire it.

I have had a coffee table book for years that is a good one. They took period museum and collector clothes and gear and show it on today's cowboys and ranchers. They have a chapter on guns with what looks like an original museum Henry.

Thanks, and I hope so. It really is the one that reignited my interest in lever guns. I may have gotten my 1866 and 1873 first but I can't imagine getting those and not getting a 1860 Henry as well. I also think about getting a 1892 as well but we"ll see. Those first three really are the ones I've always wanted most.

But yeah, I've had the same thought about capturing all three together since I committed to the Henry.

Unfortunately I won't be able to put the three together for a good three to four months. As it turns out my 1866 has been back to the mothership for about a 5 weeks now and it will be another 3 to 4 more months before I get it back. When I picked it up at my FFL I noticed a bit of looseness in the forearm stock. I wrestled with what I should do for about a month and then woke out of that stupidity and decided to send it in for repair. The wood on that gun was gorgeous and I was really afraid I might get less good looking wood back. Thing is it just wasn't right and I needed to get it fixed.

I spoke with CS a few days ago and they said to replace the forearm which is what will be required will take three to four months. Wood curing and such. It's frustrating but the wait will be long forgotten after I get it back as long as they do a good job and match the butt stock they assured me that would take place.

Wood curing & such? they should already have stocks (or at least blanks) prepared from previously cured wood.

When I initially spoke to CS before sending the gun in and they said they had some on hand and if they could match it it would be 4 to 5 weeks and double that time if they couldn’t. When I spoke to CS at 4 weeks I was again reassured that the initial assessment was the same and the CS person said they had plenty of wood on hand and a good chance it would be done soon. At 5 weeks I was told it would be 3 to 4 months. This time the CS person supposedly checked with the gunsmith and he looked at the forearm and said it would require replacement.

Not sure if the fact whether it’s the 2018 Shot Show Version with better grade of wood wether that’s an issue or not. Not sure why I’ve been told two different things. The rifle itself is a Miroku Winchester so it’s made in Japan and the rifle was sent to Winchester n St Louis for repair. Exactly what’s going on I can’t say for sure but then again initially I was not pleased that I was told something else and that is why the CS representive went down to speak to the gunsmith the last time.

The other option was to refuse delivery at the FFL. However that opportunity is done and past. However doing so could have been problematic given this is a limited version. As it turns out the seller has more but at the time I had no idea how many and whether all had been spoken for or not. Typically in these cases there are no guarantees and this is the version I wanted.

As stated previously I am currently frustrated but if they make it right then when I get it back this will be a non issue.

RR, I think I found it on GB. Only one listed, although there may be others out there "in the wild." Interesting to read the listing - unless you're plugged into how it all works (which, I guess, anyone who would be looking at this should be), you'd never know that Uberti makes this rifle.

It does say it’s from Cimaron and that’s pretty typical for a Uberti which is distributed through Taylors or Cimaron.

I’ve seen better advertisements on GB but all of that additional verbiage takes time. In the long run not sure how much that work pays off for a vendor on GB. I think individuals reselling generallly do better. Generally I have a pretty good idea what I am looking for before conducting my GB searches.

All I was trying to do was find a live example of a NIB version of the rifle that this thread is about. Agreed some of the copywriting on GB leaves a lot to be desired. Makes you wonder how this particular guy got to be a "Top 10" seller, doesn't it? Not a lot of attention to detail.
