Dummy bullets for my Brass Stacker sling

Hey guys,

Finished some reloading today (100rds of Hornady 240gr with 22.7gr W296) and thought I'd make some dummy rounds for my Brass Stacker for fun!

The sling arrived a few days ago and I can highly recommend them. It came fast from the States and really suits the BBS!

Omega, did you oil your stock? It looks much glossier than mine or Deano5150s. Did you load dummies for legality of having the rifle on display? Here in Canada you are not supposed to store or display a firearm with live ammo. You also can’t transport with live ammo “touching” the gun, so detachable mags are the best for hunting as you can drop them out instantly to ride your quad etc. Dumb laws, but there are lots of dumb people too.

I wear a cartridge belt when riding horseback. If I am in the back country the rifle has rounds in it.

50+ years ago one of my summer jobs was working in a mountain top western tourist town (AKA tourist trap ) .... one of my duties was giving fast draw and shooting demonstrations .... in that capacity, I wore a classic leather western style holster belt with a special hand made holster for my Ruger Blackhawk 357 .... one thing I quickly learned was if I left cartridges in the leather loops for very long, some sort of interaction with the leather turned the brass green .... never did figure out exactly what was going on and haven't thought of that in many years

I've been told (and have read) that that's one reason that nickel plated brass was first introduced for ammunition. It doesn't turn green like brass does (verdigris) from contact with leather belt loops.

good to know .... if I ever have that belt lengthened so I can wear it again, I'll go with nickle plated ..

Yes I never leave rounds in the belt loops.

The brass does react with the leather. Leave the cartridges in too long and the cases will corrode. Nickle cases would solve that issue.
