How to begin....... I don't really care for thread hi-jackers.

Been waiting to have someone ask how I did with my new Henry the other day if it didn't rain. Didn't rain! Was really amazed considering about all I wanted to accomplish was get the gun sighted in and try out a few loads, so just shot a shoulder and front hand on a sandbag for a rest.

But seems you guys are more interested in YOUR guns. At least I know not to waste my time posting pictures and test data. Thanks for that info anyway.

Now how would we know if you got to the range to shoot if you didn't post it?

I guess you all come from a different part of the country than I do. If a man says he doesn't know whether he'll be able to do something, the next time his friends see/here from him the first thing that's asked is if he was able to make it and how'd you do. If he started the conversation it would appear as if he were putting on the dog and bragging himself up. Cuz that's what I'd have doing considering I amazed myself at how the gun shot.

So no need to ask now since there didn't seem to be any inerest and after I logged the data I threw the targets away. I suppose I could post the log data but as we say on the other forums...... No pictures, it never happened. As I'm sure you're aware, as anywhere else there are to many "typewriter" shooters.

Since few on here know each other we have to earn our reputation and I, at least, do that by backing up as far as possible everything I post. It's not a perfect way of passing on info but a lot better than a lot of posters I see every day on the net.

If you do poorly (which you might), the honest report will be good for all of us to see and we'll share with you our own stories of days that didn't go so well, as encouragement.

Well, I guess I'm just speaking from my own experience. I was at the range for the first time in a month last Thursday and I would call my shooting poor. I'll post the targets in a little bit. Others may never have an off day.

Agreed. We all just like our rifles, like to see everybody else's, and hear each other's experiences. It's just a forum folks, and life is way to short to get all riled up about anything in it, so let's see some range reports and get back to the fun.

ps....Pete; if I don't jump in and answer any questions you have it's because I'm a new firearm owner, and have very little experience to draw on. I learn stuff here everyday, mostly from experienced shooters; you and many others here. The targets I'm posting are the first ones I've ever shot, and I've been a rifle owner for about a month now. I'll be the first guy to step up and admit that what I know about shooting wouldn't fill a Henry mug. However, I'll keep on posting and adding my $.02 worth and think you should do the same. It's a good forum, and filled with people with a love for Henry rifles.

I can see I need to explain myself further on why I don't spend a lot of time posting if no interest is shown.

The closest 50 yd. range to me me is 20 miles away. When I get there in order to set up I have to lug my gear 25 yds. or so. Three trips. Then go down and post the targets. I'm smart enuf to use the 100 yd. CBA target so I don't have to make 6 trips changing targets. Fire the 40 rds. I usually bring for sighting in and shooting 6-6 shot groups. When I'm done shooting everything runs in reverse. Get home clean the gun and brass and log the data onto the computer.

Now if I'm gonna post photos and data on here for people who haven't expressed an interest I have to take photos, process them, size them down to fit on here, plus write up a nice newsy message to go along with it.

Of course many of you do the same, I'm sure. I did 50 yrs. ago too. You guys that are over 75 will know why I'm not to excited.

Now to top it off this Wed., over the noon hour, a bunch of us will be starting an 8 week "Combat" leaque at the local pistol club. A month off and it'll be about time for the 20 week bullseye pistol leaque. Then of course the 2nd and 4th Sat. of the month we do ASSRA matches up at the 200 yd. range which started last Sat. This range is where I'll be doing the 100 yd. work with the Henry when I'm done at 50 yds. A lot easier on us old guys. I can drive down to the backstops and walk about 10 ft. to set up. But it's 40 miles away.

And by the way. I live in Iowa so I don't have a bug where the sun don't shine. It's a corn cob.

The 2016 Henry catalog list the twist rate for the 357 as 1:16, the 45 Colt and 44 mag are 1:38 and the 41mag is 1:18.75.

Thanks for the info. My rifle was shipped from the factory on Dec. 15, 2015. So guess my measurement of 17" wasn't that far off.
