I got it, here are some pics. I’m very happy with wood and the forearm has wrap around checkering. THe fitof stock action is good too. I’m not real happy with the recoil pad fit but I will fit another one down the road.

Thank you. While I was there I looked at one of the new BB steel/case colored frame. Wow! That was one good looking rifle. Had it been a 357 I might have with it too but it was a 30/30. The case coloring was outstanding!

I was rustling around in my parts box today and found a Weaver 60a mount. What a surprise to find it has the same screw hole pattern as HenryS/S. I have a Japanese Tasco 3-9x that I’m going to mount on it to check it out. Later I want to replace it with a 1.5-5x. The weaver package says it fits the old H&R toppers. We will see.

really looking forward to your range and use reports .... if she shoots anywhere near as good as she looks, you've got a winner

I really like my 357 single shot. They handle well and are fun to shoot. Local pawn shot has one in 44 mag that has my eye. Cant believe someone got rid of one already.

Simply beautiful wood color and grain patterns on your SS, Brother.
BTW, I'm all but certain that if you popped the stock and send it to Henry for them to correct, they would better fit another stock pad for you.
Congrats & enjoy!

That is some really nice wood, great rifle to pick up. I've noticed the wood to be very slightly proud to the recoil pads on mine, as well.
On the scope mount thought, I noticed in checking for appropriate bases that Weaver Scope Base charts for H&R Topper showed the Weaver 60a, then, later, both NEF Handirifles as well as H&R, showed the Weaver 82. I had one of those in my box of stuff, having had a couple of NEF rifles, but never used it. I found that mount placed the scope too far forward for me. So I'm using the Warne 981M bases. Anything that fits the H&R/NEF rifles should work, though.

I’m sending the barrel on tomorrow to have it rechambered to 357 Maximum. Looking forward to getting it back.

Re: New SS 357, get it tomorrow!
I emailed Henry toady about the fit of the recoil pad. They will not install another one but they are sending me a new stock. I know it won’t look like the one I have but maybe I can swap the pads for a better fit. If not, I will grind a new recoil pad to fit it.
Re: New SS 357, get it tomorrow!
I find that interesting. Usually. you see recoil pads a little proud to the stock, if anything, so Henry's stocks being slightly proud to the recoil pad has struck me as a little odd, albeit mine are so close it doesn't bother me (much). Henry sending a new stock strikes me as a more costly alternative, considering that their Walnut tends to be pretty nice, than correcting the dimensions of their recoil pads, or reprogramming the robots that carve the stocks. I'd keep that nice stock for your next Henry single shot

I got my 357 Max barrel back and installed. I shot it 3 times to check the new spring I installed with no problems. I still have a little PT to go before I can sight it in and it is supposed to rain for the next 4 days. I also received my new wood from Henry to replace the poorly installed recoil pad. They did good, it is almost as nice a piece of wood as the original and they sent me a forearm too.
Re: New SS 357, get it tomorrow!
Pretty nice wood there, and they threw in a marching forearm to boot. That's impressive. I remember paying extra for "semi-fancy" wood when buying a stock blank years ago, and it wasn't that nice. Henry has a lock on some really nice wood. I'm looking forward to hearing about the .357 Maximum when you get 'er going.

Really nice project you have going and VERY nice wood!!!
I can't imagine shooting the .357 Max in a revolver...ouch! But I used to own a .45-70 BFR.
