? Regarding tablet I use

Post by markiver54 » Wed Jan 02, 2019 3:49 pm

I use about a 3 year old Samsung Galaxy tab A 9 inch. When I bought it the Samsung rep told me to always let it run down to about 15% before charging. That has been a real pain, as it takes approx 3 hrs to recharge. Will it harm the devise to use it while plugged in? If anyone knows, would sure appreciate input. Would love to keep puter up and running instead of logging out or shutting down all the time.

.
Using while charging is a normal use condition. With simultaneous use it may get a little warmer in your hands or lap, but that too is normal.

Generally, Li-Ion batteries, you do not want to let them get into undercharge. 15% is a good guard band to avoid that happening. Many battery protection circuits will not allow a battery to be charged if undercharge is detected. Samsung has good protection, so biggest worry is your battery might no longer charge if it gets too dead (undercharged).

Samsung and other reputable electronic manufacturers aside, attempting to charge unprotected Li-ion batteries in the undercharge state can give off excess hydrogen causing the battery pack to swell, possibly explode and/or catch fire.

Yes BigAl. The wife has a full sized laptop and even larger screen right next to it for her work, so, we kinda keep to our own means.
She's unfortunately not into guns or shooting sports but at least respects my interest. 19 years and so far we've made it work.

You are a man of patience. I know ive done it from my phone before. Im not a fast typer by any means. The two finger hunt and peck method. It takes a long time on a cell phone to type one sentence for me anyway.

I have a Samsung tablet that synced with my Samsung phone. I have an old Ipad that syncs with my Iphone SE right now. I have used all of them, laptops and PC's too. The hardest to do internet and forum work on is the phone. I have tried to go into the back room of the forum on the phone. It works, but I don't like it.

As far as batteries in them, I also have an Ipod I bought a long time ago. I plugged it into the charger after a year or two of non use and it charged right up.

I'm glad to hear you and your wife have made it work. It's nice when that happens.

Yes, she has quite the setup. She's a self employed accountant and about to get REAL busy. I know to just stay out of her way this time of year! :D

I post almost everything from my iPhone. Battery life can be cut in half if charged constantly. But it will be outdated before the battery dies.

.
Shoudn't be the case if your phone is using a Li-Ion battery.

Is a problem with Ni-Cad or Ni-metal hydride batteries.

I see that sometimes too. Usually turning it off and back on fixes that. Cleans out a bunch of temp files cluttering up memory.
If it's just slow using the web browser it may be time to flush the web browser cache.
