The two ARs have been extremely fun. I did have a couple of issues, but customer service at PSA has been just as good as Henry's in my experience. I had issues with the 1st one with double, triple, and longer streams of burst fire. It was fun shooting full auto and my wife particularly enjoyed it
I called PSA and they immediately said they would send a shipping label. I asked if they would send me a fire control group instead. The rep very happily agreed. No luck with the new fire control group and the issue if anything became worse. They sent me a shipping label and replaced the sear. It has worked perfectly since. The second AR was shipped with a phosphated bolt instead of the nitride bolt. They sent me a shipping label to return it, but unfortunately sent me another phosphated bolt. They allowed me to keep the second one and sent me a nitrided bolt. Wonderful customer service and I have a spare bolt!I have wanted a 9mm carbine for a long time and particularly recently so we could shoot steel up close on the pistol ranges. These two rifles are becoming my wife's and my favorites. Accuracy up close has been great with one hole groups at 15 yards. However, at 110 yards my results have been mixed. On one outing I was able to to do about 15 rounds all inside a painted 3" circle, maybe a 2 to 2 1/2" group. I was extremely happy with that. Subsequent trips haven't been so so with groups opening up to 3 1/4 to 4" or more. I think it has been more my shooting than anything to do with the rifle or my hand loads.
Yesterday was the real test at 210 yards. I used an online ballistic calculator using my chronographed results of 1056fps at 5 yards with the 3.4gr charge of Sport Pistol and guessing at the ballistic coeficient of the bullet. The calculator indicated that I would need to raise the sights by 17.5 moa or 70 clicks on my Leupold 1.25-4 scope. Lou, a friend of a friend who I met yesterday at the range helped spot me. First shots were high and I ended up only needing to adjust the sights by 14 moa or 56 clicks. I was all over the place on my 12x20" steel plate with one shot well to the right. I asked Lou if he wanted to try. He proceeded to place multiple shots in the middle of the plate, but we couldn't tell exactly where due to my previous hits. He aimed at my lone hit on the right and hit immediatly to the right of it. Next shot was just to the left. Next few shots were on top of those. I didn't measure the group until I got home and found it to be only 2". I was ecstatic at the range with his group and even more happy with it when I got home. Lou has some experience with long range shooting out to 1000 yards and it showed yesterday!
His results gave me more confidence in the rifle and the load, so I tried shooting at some clay pidgeons on the berm behind my steel plate at just over 210 yards. I was able to break some, not on every shot but again very happy that I was able to with a 9mm. I need to work on my bench shooting, I think I am not concentrating hard enough on basic skills. However, while my shooting off the bench has declined, my offhand shooting (out to 110 yards) has improved dramatically.
The second photo is one of the typical groups I have gotten with this rifle and load at 110 yards. It is on the 4" square head of my steel plate. This group measures about 3 1/4". The third photo is the plate after I was finished for the day. Part of the spread was due to getting the sights adjusted. The vast majority however, is my inaccuracy of late. Bottom photo shows Lou's group. Hard to tell on the painted plate, but I believe there is about 4 of his hits in that cluster.
