Minolta SLR's releathered

Post by Danwin22 » Tue May 03, 2016 8:52 pm

I used to write magazine articles on Radio Control Model Airplanes between 1977 and 2000. Over the years I used Minolta SLR's and still have six that work fine.

Here are two that I recovered with Lizard Leather.

I've owned a dozen or more Minoltas. I had two XK's and several XE-7's. Do you still use these?

No, not since I got into digital. I have an XE-1, XE-7, XK, XD, XD-11, and X-700.
One of these days I'll run off some film in them if I can find a place that develops.
I'm not going to set up a darkroom for a few pictures.
Also have some other cameras from an old Kodak Brownie box camera to rangefinders and even an Olympus XA and XA-2.

Those cameras bring back memories. I had an XA-2. That was really a nice little camera. I also had an Olympus OM-10. Still have it, actually.

The digital cameras work so well, but it's hard to feel anything like the way I felt about those film cameras.

I've had all the ones you mentioned minus the X-700. And I had the complete line of SRT's. I worked at a camera store for almost ten years and collected them. At one time I had about 20 bodies and traded common lens for more specialized lens.

For those of you who like Minolta Cameras, here are the old "A" and "A-2" rangefinder types.

After this era they made a couple of nice "Leica" lookalikes.

Those turned out great Dan. I really like the yellow. Very nice work.

I am a Pentax guy in film. I have an ME Super SE and 2 K1000's. I used to shoot 64 Kodachrome in the ME all the time. Most of my slides got ruined a couple of years ago. The cameras and slide gear sit idle.

In digital, I'm a Canon fan.

I like those Leica look a likes.

I had a Leica III-G and am M-2 but found my Minoltas much quicker to work with.
