Where on the James do you guys put in? I live in Goochland about 5 miles from either Columbia, or Cartersville and 12 miles from Maidens...y'all ever float there?

My first smallie trip on the james, I hooked a state citation smallie. The do put up a fight. He pulled my kayak up river against the current a bit before I got him in the yak.
I got a great pic, a great fish, and the citation for the wall.
HE was released unharmed to make more fish.

I was just over the James River a couple of weeks ago. I stopped in at the Walk Bridge between Buena Vista and Big Island. I later learned that it is actually part of the Appalachian Trail. Saw a great view of the River up there.
