Ranch Roper, how many Remington statues do you have? I've seen a couple in the backgrounds of your photographs.

I really like his sculptures. I've been to his museum in Ogdensburg NY. It's amazing.

The "Trooper of the Plains" is a bronze but we have a few others by other sculptors that are not. Too expensive to collect real ones! We have not been to the Remington Museum but the CM Russell museum in Great Falls Mt is spectacular. How one man could generate such a volume of work in a single lifetime is incredible. Not to mention his actual 1880's saddle is there in a glass case!! Plus there is a good collection of period firearms. Very cool to see.

Good morning all from Jonesboro, GA. 62 degrees this morning. We had a little rain yesterday afternoon into the evening. About a 20% chance of late afternoon showers today. Right now, bright and sunny. Take care and be safe!

I was fortunate enough to visit an estate house in Spain and the previous owner was Adnan Khashoggi. He had LOTS of REAL Remington Bronze statues. I was impressed with them. On the tour before dinner, they said there were more real Remington's there than in any one place.

The weatherman was quite correct in his forecast for today....pouring rain, but we can surely use the water.
So outdoor range is out, and that means a visit to Cabelas.
Will be checking out prices on reloading equipment...still have a ways to go for that start up project!

My Henry mug is faithfully at my right hand, serving me my first cup of double mocha. Nice on a wet, damp morn.

Not too hard to write a Cabelas report. And I'm writing it now with another cup of double mocha in my Henry mug!
Here goes.

As I was driving to Cabelas just after noon, the weather was beginning to clear from the strong thunder & lightning storms we had this morning. I should have brought my SGC along and caught Parma Woods outdoor range on the way home. Such is the way of it.

At Cabelas, I usually check the ammo section first. There were about 4-5 shelves just bending under the weight of .22LR ammo! And the surprise was there were no lines of fellows standing there calculating the cost per round! Glad to see it...we surely had a long-term drought of that caliber. Oh yes, there was also one full shelf of .17HMR ammo, but still no .22WMR available. Also checked .357 magnum (very small supply) and .38 special + "P" (none). No ammo purchased today.

Then headed over to the reloading aisles. I had decided that I needed to bite the bullet and buy two or three more components of the equipment/supplies I'll be needing to get going with reloading. Ended up with these new items: a manual (not digital) caliper, powder trickler, and M500 scale ... all RCBS products. I had gotten an RCBS Rock Chucker Single-Stage reloading press a couple of weeks ago, and now I have only to send in an RCBS rebate to recover close to 1/3 the cost of these items. Better than zip.

Well, I did it this time, Daytime Dave. I stop at the knife display cases on the way to the checker. I have no idea how many knives were there, but there were a very lot of choices. Two Buck knives caught my eye: the "Solo Knife" and the "Deuce Knife." Almost got the Deuce, but with the $$$ tally of RCBS equipment, I closed the blades and put on the skids. Probably another day. It was a cool knife. Still, wish it were USA-made.

No pictures. All the RCBS stuff and Buck knives are on the web. Plus I left my camera at home!

Well, this Cabelas day was unusual for me because most visits I end up with only ammo. Even surprised myself that I'm working on building a reloading bench now!! I think I was "right on target" in the reloading aisles. It was a good day.

Adnan Khashoggi is one of the world's richest people; a billionaire Saudi Arabian businessman. That must have been some estate! Any Henry's?

....ya when I bought my Henry at Cabela's we got some fudge and a big tub of buttery pretzels. Darn good!

BTW, Dutch, the KC Cabelas deli has some really good sandwiches, too!

I might just go and live at Cabela's when I retire; good food, camp right in the store with all the right gear, and all the Henry's and ammo handy.

No Henry's that I remember. He had a shooting range in the basement, off the bowling alley, which was right outside the disco. The disco cost 10,000 to rent for the evening after dinner, open bar included. (My fiance had won the trip for work) The vice president of the company leaned over to me over a cigarette and told me it was worth every penny. I agreed. That same night, during dinner before the disco, a violinist was playing. He was very good. After a while, he said he had a special treat. He went to his car and retrieved his family violin, a Stradivarius. He played some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard on that fine instrument. It was a memorable evening for sure. The stand out piece, besides the Remington's, was the solid gold and solid silver chess set. The pieces were almost as big as barbie dolls.

What this blue collar boy from Upstate NY was doing there, I'll never know, lol, but it was amazing.

Coffee in on of the GF's mugs this morning and off to work.
