Three Day Shoot

Just got back from the the Third day of the California lever Action Championships.
These were my first NRA Sanctioned silhouette matches. The club I shoot at holds Club Matches only in lever action.
I got a Score Book, they squadded us up into two and three. The squad members spot and keep score for each other. Some squads shoot together all the time. I shot with two other loners. A Masters class shooter and a AA class Champion.
In the Small Bore there were many marlins but also a far amount of Henrys. I think I saw all the 22lr lever action configurations, less the most basic H001. I shot my Octagon and one of my squad members shot the Octagon Long Barrel.
In Pistol Caliber matches there were fewer Henrys than the smallbore. Several 22mag Octagon LB and otherwise. 22mag rifles did very well for some top shooters. I shot my 357BBB. I had a couple people come by and ask about it.
I didn't see any Henrys in the Big Bore match.
Both the Big Boy and the Octagon preformed for me. The misses were not the fault of the rifles.
I feel even more confident in my Henry rifles after these matches.
All I will say about my scores, Your always first in a class of One.
Venue was welcoming even though the site had just suffer a catastrophic wild fire. The LASC Pistol Silhouette club did a great job hosting. Comradery and sportsmanship abounded amongst the shooters.

I use an old Erma for the rimfire event, it is the fore runner to the H001. My local club only shoots the rimfire match but club matches are official scoring matches so my first ever attempt saw me graded as AA.
Every shooting event I have participated in regardless of the level has seen great comradery and sportsmanship it is one of the things I love about shooting. Almost without exception even the very best are happy to take the time to help beginners.

As mentioned nice report for sure. I never let a score dictate the knowledge I gained from going to shoots like that. I always determined success on how much fun I had. The camaraderie and sportsmanship is a big plus and at some of the shoots I attended was non existent therefore changing the fun factor. Sounds like you had fun.

90+% the long octagon barreled Winchester and Marlins in 30-30. With a sprinkling of the other hyphenated calibers and some pistol caliber rifles.
My 22inch Zane Gray was remarkably short on the rack.

I would love to have an old Erma. I've heard about them but have never seen one in person. Can you do a detailed report on it?
