Steel banging blues

I get a two week break for Christmas and nwas looking forward to getting up to the range for some day long silhouette prep and practice.
Then the Thomas fire happened. Closing the one road to the range. And another fire burned down the closest alternatives in the Los Angeles area.
I realize the inconvenience of not being able to shoot pales in comparison to what others have and are still going through.
I've cleaned, prepped, primed and billed every piece of brass I have. Finished loading several hundred rounds. Released every rifle I have.
The road reopened this evening hopefully after some clean up I hope to get up there soon.

public ranges in our area are mostly for shotguns and memberships can be pretty dang expensive .... we've been fortunate to have access to a friend's 125 yard range that we have been able to visit from time to time .... sure hope yours opens soon and you can get back out to send some down range

Right, now, it's the cold that's keeping us from packing up and heading to our range. Haven't had a day with high temps above zero in double digits in two weeks, now, though we've had a couple days where the high was double digits below zero. Hasn't stopped me from doing my aerobic winter sports - XC skiing and snow biking - but one thing shooting is definitely NOT is an aerobic sport.

I'm glad I had plans today, or I would have been disappointed. Our range was closed for awhile this morning due to cold weather. It's a little warmer here than it is up in NCG's neck of the woods, but not much.

The cold damp weather affects my arthritis in my joints, so its hard for me to spend much time on the range once the nasty rolls in, but I have a large variety of reactive steel targets and do like to make them ring. I think you need to take up biathlon! I would love to do that for fun. Unfortunately, it would be a long drive for me to get to anywhere with snow.

That might be fun, but I've never heard of anyone in this area doing biathlon. Might be a regional thing.
