First day at the range

Ok, I went out to get some shooting in today. It went better than I expected. I put just over 50 rounds through the BBB 44mag. all shooting was at 25 yards and most off the bench.( I am not a bench shooter) I'll try to put up a few pics of targets and the Henry with it's new family. The trigger takes some getting used to, I'm use to a trigger pull of ounces not pounds.

not bad at all, specially for a first outing .... I plan to have a bit of trigger work done on our 45-70, our 44 Mag isn't anywhere near as stiff

Target POIs are very good for a "1st day at the range." Your sight-in work was a definite success.....good job! I especially like your off hand shooting. That's my favorite/preferred way to send .357 magnums down range.

The photo of your family rack looks mighty impressive. Sure have sharp-looking wood on those firearms.

Very good for the first outing with the Big Boy. From the picture, I am assuming you were using the factory buckhorn sights. Some of us older shooters eventually move away from the buckhorn sight in favor of some type of peep or ghost rear sight. I still use the buckhorn sight on my Henry 22 magnum (H001TM).

What ammo were you using?

Very nice collection of muzzle loaders! Beautiful wood stocks.

Thanks to all for your kind words, I did have a great time shooting the Henry. It was
my first time with a center fire in over 40 years. I traded my Ithaca model 51 light weight for my first muzzleloader around 1976. All the muzzleloaders you see in my pic's were made by me as well as some I have sold.
I was shooting all factory loads, I have no reloading equipment but may look into it if I start shooting it a bunch.
I am an off hand shooter and the shoots I go to only allow open iron sights. I wouldn't know how to shoot any other way. I may have to change the front sight, I don't like the bead sight that much. I'll decide after hunting season is over.
With any luck I can get half as good as RanchRoper. His targets are outstanding. I am also thinking about the 1860 and may have to drive to Penn. to get one. That's enough for now and I will try to keep you all informed about all things Henry.
