September 16th, 1860 on the frontier
Out to the range today. My Henry 1860 in 45 Colt. Big 'ol cowboy lead. Winchester 250 gr lead flat nose, 24 rounds. 8" target at 50 yards off hand, standing with factory open sights as usual. Wind speed about 35 mph from the SW, which makes for a pretty good cross breeze as I shoot. Not ideal but cowboy up or go home. Man I love this rifle. It just puts a smile on my face every time I take it out of the buckskin scabbard. It never fails to take me back in time.

They are such cool rifles!
Nice shootin'! You got some very nice ragged holes in that target.

Thank you! I've shot better but you just never know with that wind blowing. It wreaks havoc with flying lead.

You and that rifle really are one. Amazing! Don't know what you paid for that 1860, but you sure are getting your money's worth and more. Great offhand work, as always and with open sights, too.

Thank you. I think in 1860 it was around $15. Mine was a little more.

Under those conditions that is some great shooting. I hope that I can get my BB44 mag to shoot that well.
