Took a break from the Contenders and revolvers and dusted off the CZs. Explains why this cowgirl thinks these rifles are cowgirl worthy, not to mention awesome guns in their own right. Great triggers on all these guns really helps. Pleasure to shoot.

Lots of eye fatigue, so took a long time to shoot. That's a very small bullseye to shoot at 50 yards without scope.

Beautiful CZ's in the hand of expert shooters - you and your hubby really set the bar high for the rest of us, NCG - and your range reports are always a teaching lesson - outstanding. I recently picked up a CZ Varmint in 22LR and seeing this makes me want to go shoot it even more....

Congrats on the 453. They are getting hard to find, now that CZs are getting better known. Pretty amazing trigger to find on a production rimfire. We also have a 453V in 17 HMR. That one has been Bill's favorite in the past, but it now has to share that honor with our Winchester Low Wall 1885 in 17 HMR. The 1885 does not have the trigger the CZ has, though it's decent, but it is a much easier to handle rifle.

Shot an offhand target with the 453V, too, and it was only a bit larger than the one with the 455 American. Just too heavy a rifle for me to do a lot of that kind of shooting with it, though.

I've got a 455 Varmint model - probably not as accurate as your 453's, but definitely more accurate than me - impressed by the quality of these rifles for the price - not too much more $ than a Ruger American rimfire, but seems like much higher quality....

It seems to be the in thing among certain CZ folk to bash the 455 as being an inferior design and not as accurate as the 453 or 452. For the record, that has NOT been my experience and I've owned a lot of all of these models. I don't buy it at all. Not for a minute. Yes, you sometimes have to play with the proper torque settings on the barrel bolts on the 455s, but I've had 455s in 22 LR, 17 HMR and 22 mag that could easily hold their own or even better some 452s and 453s I've had. For instance, the 455 American, above, will keep right up with that 453V, even though the American is lighter and doesn't have the set trigger. True, I've tuned the trigger on it, but, so far, this 455 American has that 453V beat for smallest group. In fact, I've owned Anschutz 22s that couldn't do this.

1/4" group at 50 yds is amazing - thanks for the info and insight - I didn't even know there was a 453 Varmint until I read your range report - think I'll be on the lookout for one in the future - adding a couple of CZ's to the collections can only be a good thing - it is so much fun and satisfying to shoot a nice 22LR bolt gun....

Thanks, guys. Glad you enjoyed the post. Love reading about your Henrys, too. Just a matter of time before we find just the right one for us. For some reason, haven't seen many in our area. Probably a good thing, though, since I can't keep up with what we have, now.

My CZ's are the most accurate firearms I own so I really enjoyed this thread. About 90% of the shooting I've done in the past few years has been rimfire Henrys and CZ's.

We have some Contender rimfire barrels, especially the 22 LR Match barrels, that can beat a CZ for group size, but not by much and just those barrels cost as much as some entire CZ rifles. Have also owned some Anschutz rifles that would edge out a CZ for group size, but same story - not by much and WAY more expensive than a typical CZ. Really tough to beat a CZ for the money when it comes to a package of great accuracy and quality.

I was at a rimfire match a few years ago in Louisiana. Most of the participants had Anschutz rifles, but there were also a few CZ 452 FS rifles there. One guy took me aside and said, "Don't say anything around the Anschutz guys, but those CZ's can really hold their own, and at a fraction of the price."

They sure can. One of the things that I love about CZ rimfires are the excellent triggers. It's built in with the 453s, but only takes me about 5 minutes to turn a 452 or 455 into a competition worthy trigger, but still a safe trigger. It's one of the reasons why these CZs are my go to guns for offhand work using a scope. Using a scope without a rest is a lesson in futility without an excellent trigger.
