Spent some hours playing around and adjusting with the .040 target aperture in the sight. I got it pretty well sighted in but no groups much smaller than 1.75 most around 2 or 3 inches. Figured that was all my old eyes could do. Just before we left I tried shooting with the .090 hunting aperture just to see how much different it was and if point of impact changed. I put 3 rounds on a fresh stick on target and then 2 more on a steel spinner. Holy cow! I guess letting more light in to my eye so I could see the target better trumped the added precision of the tiny aperture. I pulled this one down as my "bragging target" and just plinked at the spinner after that. Target was at around 50 yards. Paced off, not measured. Front post pretty much covered the black on the target. Past that, I really need a scope. Yeah it could use a little tweak up and to the left but making 1" or smaller moves with non micrometer sights ain't so easy, so I left that for next time. Those rounds are Winchester white box. The rifle seemed to like the Hornady V-Max stuff too.
This is already my favorite rifle. What a blast to shoot. Sounds like a real rifle compared to a .22LR but is still cheap to shoot and has basically no recoil
