Henry 30/30's

So I picked up myself a couple 30/30's in the last month. Well one was a steel frame straight grip with Skinner sight. I bought this because of the price was hard to beat and the brass frame one I wanted was sold. That was back in April for Henry #2. Henry #1 is a Golden Boy 22LR
Then a couple weeks ago a brass frame 30/30 popped up. Brand new in box from some guy who needed to pay a few bills had it selling for cheaper than Cabela's, so I helped him out.
I took both brass frame levers to the range and I am very impressed with the 30-30 groups I got at 50 and 100 yards. She'll be a nice carbine to pose with as it lays accross a whitetail deer this fall.

glad to hear you are pleased with their performance .... just curious, how would your rate the difference in felt recoil between your golden boy and BBS .... just wondering how you'd rate the effectiveness of Henry's OEM recoil pad

Nice collection - what is the third Winchester with the medallion on the stock - is that an 1886?

Are they all 30/30 or .22LR?

Little to no recoil with Golden Boy. Heavy brass receiver and octagonal bbl might've had something to do with it.

That my fellow Henry rifle shooter is a 1980's Winchester model 1894 Alberta Diamond Jubilee in 38/55 caliber, Alberta being the western province in Canada I reside in.

Win 94 30-30
Win 94 Trapper model 30-30
Win 1894 38/55
Henry Golden Boy 22LR
Henry brass frame H009B 30-30; and
Henry Steel frame H009 30-30

As you can probably tell I prefer 30-30's.

I had a 26" bbl Winchester 94 in 30-30 which kicked harder with my cast bullets using AA 5744 powder.
I'm now strictly using wheel weights with gas checks and IMR 3031 for all my 30-30 loads.
I've yet to shoot any cast boolits out of my Henrys, but soon.......

I have my grandfather's early edition Model 94 30-30 and with its metal buttplate it delivers a pretty good thump ....

Yep, definitely no comfort with steel but they sure look purdy
