Hi all got my new toy except I got the rifle instead of the carbine they happen to have both so i liked the 10 rounds and it felt a little better when I shouldered it I hope this will get the same good reviews as the carbine lol. It really looks great I hope it shoots as good I almost went for a marlin 336 but I just like this one so much better is there anything I should look for as far as ammo choices ?? thanks again for all the help you gave on the carbine

Mine seems to like 125g Winchester and Federal 158g JSP. For factory ammo.
The best so far is my handloaded 158jsp.

Mine seems to like .357 better than .38. When I was breaking it in, the .38s had a few minor feed issues that went away after a couple hundred rounds. I load my own. Accuracy is slightly better in the full house magnum jacketed. This is probably what most factory will be. I get nearly as good accuracy with coated or plated 158 grain bullets over a medium powder. These rounds are a lot cheaper for me to load, and since we normally don't shoot further than 25 yds (max length at our local range), neither Clovispup, nor I notice a difference in the groups. We shoot a lot of ammo every week, so saving $4 or $5 a hundred on ammo is worth it for an infinitesimal gain in accuracy. My buddy has a chronograph and I ran some American Eagle 158 grain soft points over it. They came out to 1800 fps. That became my hunting round. MV on the box for revolver barrel length was a little over 1200 fps.

My experience is 158 grain seems to give better accuracy than lighter bullets. I have not done extensive testing, just wasn't happy with the 125 grain bullets I tried. Since we have two fixed sight revolvers, I decided to stick with 158 grain and keep things simple.

The .357 BBS is a whole lot of fun to shoot.

Thanks for the input I got some sellier and bellot 158 grain FMJ that they gave me when I got it they are flat nose so are they ok ? I've read that you shouldn't use FMJ I don't want to ruin anything. I don't reload yet so I'll probably just order online for now can't wait to shoot it

FMJ rounds in a tubular magazine are not a good idea. You run the risk of a round igniting in the magazine. The odds of this happening are small, but why run the risk. Wait till you have suitable ammo.

the shape of the bullet can be an issue .... most full metal jacket ammo has a spitzer shape with sharp point .... in most cases this is not a good idea in a rifle with a tubular magazine ... if it has a flat or round front, it is most probably OK ....
