Photobucket no longer free

Post by JBlaisdell » Sat Jul 01, 2017 7:24 pm

I don't use it, but Photobucket now requires a subscription for 3rd party hosting. That means if you use it and linked photos to any threads here, no one will be able to see them anymore.

I deleted every picture I had in the photobucket library. I have hated the up and down on the way photobucket was on posting a picture. Some days it was very easy and some days I felt like throwing the computer out the window into the drive way. I will have to find another way to post pictures. Until then I am done with pictures. Hope to get to learn a new way as this is good picture taking time especially when we get into fall.

I just went to photobucket and deleted what few pictures I had over there, no intention of going back

posting pictures directly from your computer isn't difficult .... download the pictures from your SD card or other source using whatever program you use to process pictures (we use http://www.irfanview.com/ ) .... save the picture to your hard drive or USB drive ... click on attachment under the post area .... find the picture and up load it .... saving pictures sized to 640 X 480 works well

I also deleted all my pictures on Photobucket. It was getting very slow and popping up ads all the time. I am no computer expert, so I will now need to figure out how to upload pictures to this site.

I'm no computer expert either, but I just followed the prompts after Sir Henry told me I could download direct.

We can upload directly here, but some forums like Rimfire Central limit file size and storage. Third party hosting works better in those cases.

My Photobucket still seems to be OK. Perhaps we haven't caught up with things yet. I'll find a new hosting site, just in case.

You can still post a few hundred pictures for free. When you reach the limit they black everything out.

Ah, OK - thanks for that info. I don't have a lot of pics on there, so it shouldn't be a problem just yet. ;)

I just use it for Avatars, but the place sure seems complicated to me. It seemed a little worse once they made some changes there a good while back.

I gave up on them a while ago. I use flickr instead. Once you figure it out, it's pretty easy. It takes my smartphone pictures off the phone and puts them on flickr.

When I have time, I'll make a tutorial on how to use it here. I'm too busy now though.
