I received the new lever and got it, the scope mount and scope installed. Due to the weather (118 degrees) here in AZ I won't be testing it at the range until next week.

The reason I'm not insisting on a new rifle is that Henry did adjust my almost 6lb trigger down to a very nice just above 4lbs and I don't know what the trigger would be like on a new rifle.
If this rifle still shows sub standard accuracy, that will be my next step.

118* I would melt.
My sister lives just outside of Phoenix and loves hot yoga. I think she enjoys the cooler temperature of the studio at 108*.
I bet a 200 yard indoor air conditioned range would be a big hit.
Hope you get to shoot soon and it turns out to be a tack driver for you.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday. ;)

Interesting... I called Henry the other week asking If they could reduce the pull on my 6Lb trigger = Nope!
I them asked for some trigger springs so I could get some measurements and play with them.= CSR said Ok = Still waiting on the springs.

Hope they got the accuracy sorted out for ya. Keep us posted.

Happy Shootin !

Took the "repaired" rifle to the range today. Tested 4 different factory loads bench rested at 50 yards with a 7X Leupold scope and this is the best group I got. It groups a little better than before but still unacceptable.

I took the same scope and mounted it on my Henry Small Game Carbine and shot this at 50 yards. Obviously not a scope issue.

Called Henry again and spoke with the engineer. It's going back in for either a NEW barrel or a replacement rifle.
Speaking with the engineer, I found out that Henry considers 3" at 100 yards with the rifle in a machine rest and using a 24X scope as acceptable accuracy.
What would you guys consider acceptable accuracy using a 7X scope benchrested at 50 yards?

3" at 100 yards from a mass produced rifle sounds pretty good to me .... that would imply something less than 3" at 50 yards

I have a number of mass produced rifles that shoot 1 MOA groups at 100. My mass produced AR shoots 1/2MOA.
I fail to see why my Henry Small Game Carbine will shoot 5 shot groups you can cover with a quarter at 50 yards but a Henry BBS 357 with the same scope shoots 3" groups at 50.

I can understand your point, Hogstir. To some degree I also see their point, but the fact that you're dissatisfied should trump all.

I think a new one adjusted to this trigger pull is what you're looking for, and should get.

Just my $0.02

At 50 yards with iron sights, my Winchester 1873 in 357 groups just over 1". I would expect a Henry to at least match that with a scope if not beat it. The Winchester is a much more expensive rifle so I would expect it to be a bit more accurate, but what you are getting I would consider unacceptable.

UPDATE: I received a replacement rifle from Henry, mounted the scope and went to the range.
The trigger is great, clean break at just over 4 lbs.
After sighting in at 25 yards I moved the target to 50 yards and this is the first group using the same 7X Leupold scope, same ammo etc.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
158g JSP. Temp was 97 degrees.

It seems to like the same handloads that my Brass Big Boy 357 likes. I'm going to try a cheek rest to get a better anchor and after some practice this will be my Coyote gun ( when it cools down out here).

I realize ours is a small sample from which to draw a conclusion but the same reloads do well in our Ruger Redhawk 44 Mag and our Henry 44 Mag ... that is also true for our Ruger GP100 357 and our Henry 357 .... none of our 3 Henry rifles seem to be very picky about ammo

My Ruger Blackhawk 45lc also does well with my loads for my Henry BBS 45lc Carbine as well.

Had been messing with my BBS 357 Carbine. Ace in the Hole rear peep/picatinny. Skinner front filed down. Also cut the A in TH length down as it extended to the original sight. Range this morning. From a good rest taking my time, with the AinTH at 75 yds. Three shots. PMC 158gr JSP. Can't complain about the accuracy.
