Re: 1860 Henry
I found that shed way way waaay out at the north end of the a7 Ranch when I worked there a few years ago. Packed it out horseback on Badger and did he ever hate it. Tried to buck it and me off a few times. But I wanted it. So it mostly rode home under my arm. The mate to it is out in the middle of a real bad bog. Tried to get it but wasn't worth bogging my horse down in the middle of nowhere. Probably still there.

Re: 1860 Henry
Some fit and finish pics of my Cimarron 1860. Just gave it a good clean. Had to show it off!
Yes I took the stock cover off. It's just too darn gorgeous all by itself!

Re: 1860 Henry
First time I've seen your "fit & finish" photos from July, RR. I wasn't on the Forum much during the summer this year.
I must admit your stock cover on the rifle did look nice, and the leather was very classy. But in your July photos, I'm glad for your decision to remove it and show off the beautiful wood against that dazzling bronze. Wood is my really "delicious" cup-of-tea, and what I see sans leather stock cover adds much to the look of your Henry. It is a great-looking rifle, and you took some excellent photos. Man, that is some beautiful wood color and grain patterns you have there.

Re: 1860 Henry
Thanks PT7. Uberti uses a reddish stain on their stocks that seems to be a love it or hate it relationship in most of the reviews I've read or from comments on some other forums I browse from time to time. It's not like the wood you'd get on the HRA 1860 rifle, and the stock is a little different design as well. The HRA one looks a little deeper top to bottom with a bit of a belly on it. I believe there was an earlier model Henry and a later model Henry and the HRA one looks more like the early version. See the website attached for the difference. But I do like my Cimarron Uberti and it seems to be true to the later model originals I've seen on auction sites. Many originals are almost a dark cherry color from age. Any original vintage Henry's I've seen don't look like the HRA wood grain, although the HRA wood is a work of art for sure.
With mine, while the stock cover is cool and handy as heck for carrying cartridges, it is 100% authentic without it aside from the caliber. It is such a nice shooter. Well balanced, easy to shoulder and lock in tight, and just so cool with it's historic presence.
You can see from the 2 comparisons; they are very close. Once my 1860 wood ages (of course I'll be 120 yrs old by then) it will look very similar.
