New to me

I have been watching the CZ shooters on Rimfirecentral shoot there monthly matches at 50' and 25 yds. 50yds. and also a 100 yds. They shoot open sights at some of the closer range targets and scopes at the longer range. One shot at each bull and then on to the next one. Monday evening after getting bored with working on the house I thought I owed myself a little break to shoot a few rounds. I had a target with multiple bulls on it and thought I would try my luck at this type of target shooting. They are having a 25 yd. match now with a scoped CZ rifle limited to 9X. I don't have a 25 yd. target board set up right now so I used my 33yd.target and a 6X Burris HBR scope on my CZ Ultra Lux (28 1/2" barrel) to shoot as it was already out of the safe. This one is usually not my best shooting CZ but was right there at hand. CCI standard ammo was all that was not still put away and there was not many of them to put my hands on with out digging through boxes that are still packed up from when I had to empty my room for work to be done. I shot two shots through a clean barrel to see where it was on close to POA and it looked decent. I then shot the first shots at the top row of five and then went down to the second row of five. It looked like it had settled in on being a little right of the center. I then moved it left and shot the three sighter targets at the top. Was better centered then. Then a I had to answer a phone call and then the third row down. I blew the first shot after going in to answer the phone but the next four in the row were better than the previous two rows. Then I was out of that lot # of CCI and had go to another box that was a different #. I didn't shoot any fouling shots before shooting row 4 and 5. This game is harder than shooting 5 shot groups which I do pretty well with that type of shooting. Moving to a different spot for each shot is a challenge after having to move the rifle to a different spot. I also shot from a Caldwell portable bench and home made sand bags my wife made as I don't own any fancy rest and have used good old sand bags all my life. Try this game some time when you get bored with your normal type of shooting. It is a humbling experience to say the least and I have a lot of respect for the masters at this game.

Excellent POIs, Bandit. And you are absolutely right on about this game being "a humbling experience to say the least."
I posted my attempt at this type of shooting in early May on the Forum: http://henryrifleforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=2700 This was the first time I tried it with my SGC. I've done it before with my .357 Henry BBB and my .22 Magnum Henry lever action. Did better with both of those rifles, as the SGC results were only at 50% this time. I like the challenge of these very small targets. I did my shooting at 25 yards, standing, off hand, with the stock SGC iron sights.

I like the target you used with the 5 sets of 5 targets, plus the three "warm-up" targets at the top. Where did you get it? I'd like to try shooting the "game" with that target set up ---- looks like some "tough fun."

BTW, your POIs are excellent. You could easily compete, too, with those results.

Good to see you get in some range time to get away from the repairs to the house.
I love the one shot one target method of shooting. Makes me settle down and concentrate on getting that one shot right.
Then forget the last shot and focus on the next one.

That's similar to indoor smallbore competition. I competed for 4 years on my college rifle team. Prone, kneeling, and standing, all at 50 ft. Anschutz rifles, peep sights, leather jackets, slings, etc. Lots of fun!

Nice shooting. I would give that a shot just to see how my CZ does... lol.
It's topped with Nikon glass and has been very accurate since we bought it.
