I've used strands from copper scrubbing pads and they do work .... where the Lewis system has a bit of an advantage is in being able to apply uniform pressure in all directions that can be easily regulated .... I find that using it saves some time

If I have loads that create enough leading to require more than 6 - 10 passes with a brass brush, I switch to a different bullet/powder combo.

The Lewis Lead Remover is adjustable....it will also help clean the powder fouling and copper fouling out as well. They will do allot better job than a brush will ever do. They also work great on revolver cylinders when the shooter uses different cartridge case length....like going from 38 Short Colt to 38 Special and then to 357 Magnum. Same thing for 44 calibers. 44 Russian to 44 Special and then to 44 Magnum. Just some food for thought.

with the exception of the GP100 mentioned a few post above, the Lewis Lead remover usually takes care of any lead in our rifle barrels in one or two passes .... after the first pass a quick look at the screen can tell you if there was any lead in the barrel .... if so, a second pass usually comes out clean .... that tells you whatever buildup there may have been is taken care of ...

Copper Chore Boy wrapped around a brass brush works well and is cheap. I've also found that Goo-Gone oddly works as a decent lead solvent. It does not dissolve lead, just loosens it up for removal with nothing more than a tight patch on a jag.

Is the Lewis lead remover tool screwed to the end of the Otis cable and pulled through the chamber to the muzzle? The threads are the same? Is it the same principle as using the Otis system?
