Mr Ambassador surprise of the day

As I stated in the Unique test after I switched to lead bullets I stuck with them in case I got leading. I wasn't trying to push a coated or plated bullet through that.

I had a few bullets left from last weeks test of Trail Boss powder.
240 gr MBC LRNFP over 7 gr of Trail Boss. These were shot without touching the sights. Groups went from low right to off the paper high and left. I use a Skinner rear peep and a Lyman globe front with a ring insert. You simply center the target in the ring and fire. Well I had to try some Kentucky windage and elevation to stay on the target. Different to say the least with these sights. I had to hold with the target against the ring at 2 O'clock to get a group.
Low = 1,167
High = 1,204
Avg = 1,182

50 yds

So I finally got a handle on how to hold and got this decent 2.75" group at 50 yds.

So I decided they are grouping well and shooting high so lets see what happens at 100 yds. 1 couple of shots missed paper. I cranked 2 full turns up on the rear Skinner and aimed for center. :shock: :shock: :lol: :lol: 1st shot hit the bullseye.
2 3/8" at 100 yds. Who would have thought this powder would settle down at 100 after being all over the place at 50 yds.

This is part of what I like about handloading. You see all kind of stuff that you wouldn't believe if someone just told you. Maybe due to the slow speed those bullets need a bit more than 50 yds to stabilize. I honestly don't know.
