Made a trade

Post by bandit1250 » Wed Apr 12, 2017 3:07 pm

I traded a Leupold VX-1 scope to a fellow for a Remington 511 and a older model Weaver D6 scope. We made a even trade for a rifle he had bought new in 1959. He says it is all original right down to the 6 shot magazine. Missing the rear sight elevator but I have several of the originals in my sight box. What is amazing I even got the book and hang tag for it. He is a Pa. resident also so we could do a FTF trade legally. I can't imagine trading off a gun he had for so long. He said he hadn't shot it in years since he quit hunting squirrels and only hunts turkey and deer. I had a very nice '59 and '61 511 Remington and left them get away. I had the book and hang tag also for the '61 and it was a rare model P( factory peep) with a grooved receiver for scope mounting. Usually no grooves on the P models. The one I just got is a grooved model but not a P. I had a $145 in the scope so I got a very good trade. I think it is very nice for 58 years old. Strong case coloring still on the bolt. That is not rust on the bolt handle just some colors worn off.

Bandit, it's been a long, long time since I've seen a 5-teen Remington in that kind of shape. The few I see around, anymore, are pretty rough. Home run on that one. Congrats.

Your rifle collection is amazing and you seem to have the same affliction North Country Gal has. I call it the gun whisperer syndrome.
But every time you post picture of that beautiful table I drool a little.
Load on Sunday and Shoot all Week.......okay it's a Mare's Leg I will reload on Wednesday. ;)

Plus one on that table. It's a table a cowgirl or cowboy can love. Very nice.
