22-250

Post by bandit1250 » Thu Mar 30, 2017 6:42 pm

I went to the LGS to pay some money on my Leupold scope I laid away. I looked around while they were busy and saw a 22-250 on the used rack behind the counter. I have been looking for a 22-250 sporter barrel rifle. One of the guys behind the counter waiting on a NICS check handed it to me to look at. It was a Parker-Hale made in Birmingham England and was in like new condition. After looking it over I decided I could pay on the scope next visit and get the rifle instead. Supposed to be from the late '70's according to the guy that sold it to the shop. He had bought it new and fired only a few rounds through it and kept it in mint condition. It is a nice rifle with great bluing and nice stock finish. It will be a while before I can shoot it with all my stuff still in boxes where I can't get to it for a while until the basement is finished. Here is the rifle. Has a light colored stock of some European walnut. Maybe English or French. $389 for the rifle and scope mounts.

Congrats. That's a great buy. You can definitely see that Weatherby influence in the stock that was so popular in that era.

Wow, Bandit, you are just like a magnet when it comes to great-looking rifles and beautiful wood.
Whenever you step into an LGS, they just attach to you! :)

It would sure be fun to find out where the walnut wood came from, if that were yet possible.
Fantastic find, and I echo Dutch.

Enjoy.

I remember the Parker Hales from back then. Always thought they were eye candy but never knew much more that that.

She's a beaut............
