Surprise treats at the range !!

Post by DWD445 » Sat Feb 18, 2017 6:54 pm

Another beautiful day, 65deg and mostly sunny. At my friend's backyard range, 30yds and 100yds.
I mentioned just yesterday to NCG, I had not tried a birds head type revolver yet. Mike and Bob both had Rugers today, Bob's is a 44 Super Redhawk and he also had a nickel 357 !! Mike acquired a Blackhawk 30 carbine, I really like that, sweet straight shooter !!
Mostly metal targets, had some hot 44 loads with 23.4g H110 !! They swung the pendulum quite well and said hello to your shoulder  in the Henry !! That baby is dead on !! Dialed in a couple of DWs also, was hitting large metal targets at 100yds pretty good after some fine tuning!! Great day and may have to consider a Ruger some day :)

Sounds like a great day at the range. How could it not be with those guns? Those are some very fine guns, indeed.

Have had several Super Redhawks and all were great shooters. Just that I prefer Super Blackhawks, anymore. My first deer "rifle" was a Super Blackhawk 44 mag.

Love the original, full size Bisley Vaquero in 357. I have one of the Bisley New Vaqueros in 357 that is built on the slightly smaller frame. Ruger polishes the stainless Vaqueros to look like nickel. Gets you the look with all the advantages of stainless.

The 30 Carbine Blackhawk is one I plan to add at some point in time. Have never heard anyone say a bad thing about the way they shoot and that one is an Old Model Blackhawk to boot. I'm jealous on that one. :)

Been a long time since I've seen a King Cobra. How does it compare to the DW?

Next time you guys head out and need some help carrying all those great guns, let me know. :)

Thanks, was a fun time.
I really like the 30 carbine, kinda like a mild 357 and VERY accurate !!
Don't think anyone tried the King Cobra :? We did have quite the smorgasbord
Bob has a 3 seat 4 wheeler, but you're welcome anytime you want to fly south aways with some of your collection :D

I think I might be admiring the range as much as the guns. What a nice set up. Al

Beautiful revolvers and rifles, and a superb range. Life just doesn't get any better than that! ;)

Nice looking rifle scabbard too, who made it? It would look real nice hanging on my rig.

Thanks RR, I found it on eBay, works and looks good, but it's pleather  it was only like 20 bucks. NOS for jap atvs to strap on a rack. Look though, had a couple real leather ones for cheap.

Very cool!!!

Wish I had an area like that for shooting at my leisure.

Also, I could be happy owning several of those guns, too. ;)

our long time favorite 44 Mag load is 23.8 grains of H110/W296 pushing 240 grain Nosler JHP's .... while accurate in both, those rounds assert them selves in our Ruger Redhawk but are fun to shoot in our Henry
