Long Ranger accuracy

Does anyone have a feel for the accuracy of the Long Ranger series -- particularly the 308 or 243 ?

Does it rival a good quality bolt action rifle?

I don't have any firsthand experience, but I would be surprised if they don't shoot as well as a bolt action.

Not a fair fight really. My Henry Long Ranger is beautiful, amazingly light, fun to shoot and carry- but there's no way it's pencil thin barrel can compete against my .308W bolt guns with heavy bull barrels. I did not select it race against these beasts, but I will use it for many purposes on my farm.

Check out a you tube video from Gunsngear. He shot the 308 with Gorilla match ammo and put 4 rounds in the same hole. I just looked at a 243 and a 308 on gunbroker and boy do they have some awesome wood on them. Al

Been thinking real hard about getting a Long Ranger in 223, since we have a bolt gun in 223, though we seldom shoot it. 223 ammo is cheap and we have lots of it. Figured I'd shoot a lever gun a lot more. I also like that Henry went with a 1-9 twist, so as to provide a bit of versatility in bullet weights that can be used.

I will be very interested to see: 1. Whether Henry ends up selling many of the Long Ranger rifles, and 2. Once more of them are out there, what people will be saying about their performance.

If Henry can build a light lever gun in .308 that will consistently group under 1.5" at 100 meters; I want one!

Let's let Henry Repeating Arms decide: "With side ejection and a lightweight aerospace alloy receiver, the top is drilled and tapped for scope mounts, and the bottom features a steel-bodied flush-fit detachable magazine (5-round capacity in .223, 4-round in .243 and .308) with a steel floorplate and a blackened steel release button on the right side of the receiver."

The M1 Garand used a clip. But, North Country Girl is correct as always! Won't matter, except some semi-auto snob next to you, what you call it on the bench at the range. No offense intended to any semi-auto snobs here who also like lever guns.
