Another project/Garage

I’m having it painted and putting in a Polyurethane floor.

Today was cleaning, prepping and some priming.

I have never had a fully finished garage.

Looks like it will be a nice garage/workshop. My neighbor did something similar. He uses his garage as a workshop. Yet, I will probably look at using a shed for a workshop. My other neighbor has power and Internet cable ran to a shed. He uses it as a home office for teleworking. He had a ductless HVAC installed. So, he uses it all year round.

It's going to be a nice space. You should enjoy your time in it. I miss my dream shop in Virginia, but am doing fine in the space I adapted in Oklahoma. Spray foam insulation, better lighting, and a mini split, and I'm good.

That’s awesome coach. Your cabinets are making me with envy. As others said, looking forward to pics of both the progress and the finished project.

We put the cabinets in right after we bought the house 24 years ago.

They still look good.

Day 2: It was a mud day. Doesn’t really look very different.

The paint will be done tomorrow and the polyurethane floor will be done Thursday. They said the floor is a one day project. When it’s finished it’s a 48-72 hours cure time. We are going to wait 72 hours…

That will look great and clean when done ! I should have coated my floor years ago but heavy mills and lathe and work benches in there now. My problem is when I have one of the garage doors open the South wind blows trash in. Well it is just a machine shop with my Mustang stuck in the middle!

Day 3 update:

They brought in the journeymen today.

The first two days were a different young man each day. The result was unsatisfactory work by these two guys.

The Foreman showed up and was not happy with the work. As a result the journeymen floated another layer of mud today and pushed back the painting until Monday. The second layer of mud would have cost me an additional $1,000. That’s why I opted for one mud coat but got two after all.

The Polyurethane floor is going in tomorrow. That will really set the garage off!

They said that the floor needs 72 hours to cure regardless. That’s why they will come back Monday and finish up. The mud and floor will all be dry and ready to go.

I was a bit disappointed with the labor resources that they were sending out, but they made up for that today with their big guns and are making it right.
