Daughter and SIL live near the SW corner of Kauai. They came through the Lowell hurricane safe, mostly due to good hedge and shrubbery windbreaks in their yard. Which are now shredded. Winds there peaked at 87 mph. They had some rain blow through the louvered glass windows. The issue now is power outage. They're not expecting power to be restored to where they are at for some time because of how remote they are. 90% of the island was without power, higher priority eastern Kauai is getting their power restored first. They have a solar powered Tesla power wall, but Tesla decided a couple days before the storm got there to disable the system. That left them no time to buy a generator locally. Hence, we spent a hurried morning finding, buying and shipping one by overnight FedEx. Should be there before noon tomorrow. Gasoline is not supposed to be a problem. Gas stations were all topped off before the storm arrived as well as tanker trucks staged around the island.

55 now with a nice day forecast. Sunny and 70’s expected. Sunday we leave for the lake and yep, showers expected. :( I don’t like setting up camp in the rain but it’s better than not setting up camp at all.

We had a couple of issues with the new trailer noted at delivery and yesterday the dealer got them fixed!!!

Sunny and 73 here today. Birds and rifle season opened yesterday, and it’s was the first opening day I’ve missed in my life. Damn responsibilities got in the way. But I did bag a skunk last night that got stuck in my dogs yard. Going to take the dogs out for birds in a couple of hours. Elk are in play as well as white tail and mule deer.

VFW dinner last evening was a lot of fun. Carol and I acted as hosts checking
folks in and getting their food requests set up for them.

I went down to Rochester yesterday to pick up the motorhome but they had
discovered they had ordered the wrong fan belt, so..... they hope it will be
done on Monday.

55 with a light overcast this morning. We are in a cold front so it’s not expected to get out of the 60’s today. Rain coming in tonight and sticking around all day tomorrow. Possible as much as .5 inch. We sure need it as we’re still over 3” behind the annual rainfall. To put 3” in perspective our total rain to date should be just over 10”.

With the prediction of all day rain tomorrow we decided to postpone our departure to the lake until Monday. Since we paid for Sunday night we can arrive as early as we want on Monday and not wait for the 1:00 check in had we arrived on Sunday. It’s only just an hour away so we’ll get there way before 1:00.
