Value of Colt

Post by Cofisher » Sat Sep 05, 2026 4:11 pm

A friend has a Colt SAA in 38-40 he will be selling. He would like to get an idea of the value. The serial# is 236xxx for dating. If you can give me any info, it would be appreciated. DM me if interested.

Thanks, Jim

Interesting. This may help. Seems like a collector's item: https://www.genitron.com/Handgun/Colt/R ... /Variant-1

Thank you GFK. It's a start. I'll try the serial # lookup.

From the Colt Serial number website. https://www.colt.com/serial-lookup/

236000 - 236999 SINGLE ACTION ARMY (INCLUDING BISLEY MODEL REVOLVERS) 1902

Value is a bit hard to nail down on the web.
One place shared this info for the 38-40.
New in box/perfect --100% condition - $N/A
Mint condition --------98% condition - $28,000
Excellent condition -- 95% condition - $20,000
Very Good+ condition -- 90% condition- $15,000
Very Good condition ------ 80% condition - $12,000
Good+ condition ------------70% condition - $9,500
Good condition --------------60% condition - $8,000
Less than good - $2,500 to $6,500
