Eliquis 5 mg x2

Post by Sir Henry » Thu Aug 20, 2026 4:59 pm

I just had my hemorrhoids taken care of which now allows me to start taking the dreaded Eliquis. Man this getting old sure isn’t for the young at heart.

That’s what I hear. I was at lunch the other day and one of the guys got a bloody nose from nothing. Then someone else bumped their hand and it took 20 minutes to stop the bleeding.

Doesn't sound like something I'd be taking.
What's it's purpose anywho??

I've been on Xeralto 20mg for several years now. Cuts and scrapes will bleed more, but for me, really not an issue. A bandaid that applies moderate pressure will stop the bleeding. Have to keep the bandaid on for a few days. If I nick myself shaving the good old styptic pencil will stop it.

A friend who was on Eliquis had a real issue with bruising on his arms and leg. I don't know if his doctor ever switched him to Xarelto. That's something to discuss with your doctor, if bleeding becomes a problem. Your body changes with time and the type of meds as well as dosage has to be reevaluated.

I have chronic kidney disease. Agent Orange is catching up with me. I have the four biggest cancers and diseases caused by AO. That said I’m doing great with treatment.

My wife has permanent AFib She's had an AV node ablation an now has a variable beat pacemaker that can speed up and slow down with exertion. Even so, she's on Eliquis twice daily. She was on Xeralto, but due to drug cost and risks, switched to Eliquis. No problems with bleeding or bruising.

Eliquis went generic about two months ago so now it’s really cheap. I have zero co-pay at the VA so cost isn’t a big concern for me. I go back to Madison next month for more heart tests. They might give me shock treatments and if that is successful I can go off Eliquis.

Aspirin actually thins the blood by rounding the edges. Most blood thinners don’t actually thin the blood as much as preventing it to thicken.
