That's the same duck as 0647. It's a whistling duck. There was a pair sitting on top of a nesting box and they fly off towards me. They then landed about 15 ft away and didn't seem to be too bothered about me and another photographer being that close. Here's a shot of it after it landed.

Fantastic bird images, Clovis! It reminded me of a song from the mid 70s. "Flying Bird", Osibisa, an African Band.

Back over to Magnolia this morning. Man, was it humid. Got a few decent shots, although the rookery had very little activity due to them lowering the large retention pond near the river. That concentrates all the fish, and attracts the egrets, herons and other wading birds.

Great photographs, again. That's an amazing and special place. Thanks for sharing it with us. I love the one-footed, preening portrait of Ms. Wood Duck that you captured so beautifully in DSC_1699 with that wide open aperture and sharp-as-a-razor focus. Very Nice.

It helped that they weren't afraid of me. I was able to get quite close to them.

And this is one I just shot in my back yard this afternoon.

Didn't think you had left any room to up your game CH, but you have done exactly that.

There's always room for improvement. It seems to me that my growth is painfully slow, but I do think I see a positive change year to year.

I've had a goal of working hard at improving my Bird In Flight skills over the last couple seasons. It's one of the big reasons I purchased my new Nikon Z8 last year. This year my goal was in flight duck images.

Did an internet upgrade Tuesday and now I am able to look at all your pictures. The last couple of months I was unable to see pictures especially if there was more than one. Got a new provider and now I am catching up. Excellent work as always. Thank you.

Haven't been able to get over to any of my regular haunts since my wife's surgery. Earlier this season I decided to try my hand at feeding the birds, without feeding those greedy little tree rats. I'm starting to get a lot of traffic and decided this morning to attach a branch to the feeder pole. I carved a small cavity in it that I can fill with bird seed. I got my wife settled and spend a half hour or so outside waiting for some birds to show up. Nothing terribly noteworthy, but it allows me to keep my hand in when I can't get out. I have one male hummingbird that frequents my hummingbird feeder. He shows up about every 5 to 10 minutes, and doesn't stay long. It definitely takes some patience to get shots of him. The lighting can be rather difficult as well.

Great capture of that Hummer. My wife has feeders and we enjoy watching the coming and going of them.
