Mowed the lawn for the first time this year, with the back up mower
I mowed the lawn for the first time this year. Mid to late April is the usual time. It was a pretty early Spring here. Leaves are popping out of the trees, the grass was lush and growing and the garden is still half soggy from ground water.
I had to use the back up mower, my White 1855. I bought it for keeping the trails in the pasture good, but this Spring, it pulled main lawn duty. My X758 was dropped off at the John Deere dealership for it's annual service. There were MANY other lawn, garden and tractors there for service when I got it there. I suspect a month will be what it takes to get a call that it's ready. It's worth it, as all I have to do is get it serviced at the dealer and the warranty is doubled.
Well, the White did a pretty good job this afternoon. Not as quick or as well groomed as the John Deere, but not too shabby, considering what I gave for it.
Oh, by the way, the X758 got paid off this month, so the new tractor was ordered. You really can't go wrong with 0% financing.

I’m guessing I’ll have to now as soon as I get back from Florida. No snow on the ground when I left but I’m told some years there is snow well into May. I could use a new tractor too. This time a much bigger one.

I was mowing twice a week till we hit a drought. Nice break from mowing for a few weeks, and the brown patches in the lawn give it character. We just got a little rain day before yesterday and this morning. I’m only on a half acre so mowing is not. A big chore for my Baby John Deere.

I’ve been mowing for a couple of weeks now including later today. Turned my sprinklers on yesterday as it’s getting dry with no rain in sight.
I serviced my John Deere mower (X350) including removing the deck for a power wash and blade sharpening. I’m thinking I’m getting too old for doing this service and may consider taking it to the dealer next year. When I’m done servicing anything the back of my hands look awful with bruises and cuts.
I have about 15,000 sf of lawn so it’s nice to have the riding mower.

A bit early this year, but we've been mowing awhile as well. Still have to avoid the wet seeps. They haven't dried out enough to mow over without sinking the mower.

Mowed twice, looks like once a week is the theme already. Had a good deal of rain so far. Put off the front yard as there are violets blooming and I am encouraging bees to visit. The crab apple and apple tree have bloomed and I am not seeing much activity again this year. Don't expect much fruit. Have to get a feather duster with a really long pole and do my own pollinating (after dark of course). Don't want the neighbors upset with my bee costume.

As to the yard, I've mowed ours 3 times. It needs it again, but with this evening storm. It'll be a few days.

Have mowed our lawn at least three times so far this year. Only have a property that is 75 x 125 so I use a push mower. I spend one day on the front and another day on the back.
