I hadn’t read my tank since I filled it in July. It’s just below 60% which I will round up to 60 because of the temperature. That means it’s cost me 200 times $1.25 or $250 to heat the house so far this winter.

That’s pretty incredible considering the low temps you have been having.

I was at about 60% on Christmas Day. I wanted to check today but couldn’t open the lid because it was encrusted in ice.

It was 22F so I was able to check the gauge. It’s about 48% so I’ve used 100 gallons since Christmas if I adjust for temperature and round up to 50%. I set the downstairs at 70 and the upstairs to 68. Both are warmer than the 68 I usually have downstairs and it’s usually turned off upstairs where I sleep at 59 to 62. Not bad for most of the month being sub-zero and a low of -33F.

I’m at about 42%. Hope I can make it to summer on 20%. They say to fill them at 20% but that’s in the winter. I bet I can run it to empty and it will still vaporize at 60F.

I was gone the first of May and just got around to reading my tank. I should be able to make it a full year on one 1,000 gallon tank. I wonder how much my 750 sf addition will add to my fuel consumption? The addition will have a propane fireplace as an additional heat source and it will have its own dedicated 500 gallon tank.
