I just came from wallyworld where I bought ammo and coffee. Is there anything you are stockpiling? We don’t need to mention why. Just the what.

Enhanced Regulatory Enforcement Policy

The Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced the repeal of the Enhanced Regulatory Enforcement Policy and the review of Final Rule 2021R-08F, related to stabilizing braces, and Final Rule 2022R-17F, related to the definition of “engaging in the business” of firearms dealing.

As of April 7, 2025, the Enhanced Regulatory Enforcement Policy, aka the Zero Tolerance Policy, was repealed, and Industry Operations inspections will no longer be held to these previously set guidelines. This page has been removed to comply with this new policy change.

I don't stockpile anything, but like to keep a decently stocked pantry. I try to have a month or two of the staples of life in it.

Mags, I wish I could bring you my cardboard. Some of the neighbors might assume I work for Amazon with how much time the delivery truck spends here.

If I could stockpile, I'd follow what my father did. He stock piled motor oil for all of the tractors and garden tractors we used at his place. It was all arranged on shelves by type.

My Grandparents lived thru the depression and instilled keeping a rolling supply of food at home. I learned from them and covid proved that advice to be worth more than gold.

Im stocked on Ammo. When I get home I will be buying some canned goods to add to our current supply. Goya drunken beans are really good.

I have plenty of ammo and reloading supplies on hand.
Carol stockpiles canned goods and bottled water, (although I don't know why the bottled water as we live on a lake).
We have two freezers full of beef, pork and chicken along with frozen veggies.
We have a 22KW Generac with over 1200 gallons of propane on hand.
I have a 350 gas tank for tractors and such.
The lake is full of fish, ducks and geese, the woods squirrels and deer.
In the Summer I harvest mushrooms, gooseberries, and blackberries.
Anyone who comes in to take it, I have a shotgun and a backhoe.
We're all set.

I'm not stockpiling anything, either. Not yet, anyway.

Shortly after I first started shooting, I stockpiled both ammunition and reloading components because both were scarce for quite a while. I only shoot 38/357s and 22s, and like Gunny, I won't need to buy any more of either caliber... ever... even if I was lucky enough to shoot as often as some of us do.

There wasn't any H110 (or most other pistol powders) when I bought it for the first time in 2014 from a seller online. I have no idea how old it might have been, but it was good. It worked. Good thing. I bought three cans of it, though I still have this one. When it eventually became available again, I bought as much fresh powder and other components when I could and as often as I could.

Ummm, thanks for the thought, but no thanks. My wife has plenty. Have a pile of it under trees aways from here from last year she didn't use. It's pretty much now a sodden mess. Over winter I had been storing new in the shop bay with the riding mower. Well, we've now had to use the mower a few times so the cardboard got moved to the bay with my truck. So now no truck use. We did get a big truck load of mulch so we are getting closer to using the cardboard.

I am in great shape on ammo, cleaning supplies and things related to shooting but I have thought about buying engine oil filters, air filters and fuel filters for the two tractors. Not so much becuase of pending price increases due to tariffs but due to the possibility of supply chain shortages. Neither of the two tractors are chinese (I would not own such) but the John Deere has a Yanmar engine and the Kubota is made in Japan.

We make a trip to Costco once a month and load up on certain items. We’re planning a trip this weekend so I’ll get more of some items like coffee. I usually wait until the big can of Folgers goes on sale and then buy the limit of 5 but I’ll pay the price now to have a good supply on hand. I’m low on small pistol primers so will pick some up. The only ammo I generally buy is rimfire which I’m good on except for CCI standard velocity which is a new item for me for a recently purchased revolver which likes the SV stuff. I’ll pick up some more for sure.

"I'm buying double of whatever - beans, canned goods, flour, you name it," he said. His strategy is to stock up as much as possible before the Trump administration's latest round of import tariffs takes effect on Wednesday.

Earlier at Costco , Jennings bought flour, sugar and water in bulk. "There's a recession coming and I am preparing for the worst," he said.

Like a growing number of U.S. shoppers, Jennings believes retail prices will soon rise because of Trump's tariffs.

The Tax Foundation, a nonpartisan, nonprofit research group, said the new levies will cost Americans $3.1 trillion over the next 10 years, amounting to a roughly $2,100 tax increase per household in 2025 alone.

Even as many shoppers take a wait-and-see approach, some fear that any panic would trigger a stockpiling frenzy that intensifies on expectations of even worse inflation, they told Reuters.

Manish Kapoor, founder of GCG, a supply chain management firm outside Los Angeles, said the tariffs are reawakening fears of empty store shelves encountered during the pandemic, when supply chain disruptions led to product shortages and inflation.

"We saw this during COVID as well, where everybody frantically went and grabbed everything on store shelves, whether they needed it or not," Kapoor said.

"It's not to that level, but people are worried that the cost (of goods) is going to go up and, you know, let's stock up."

Walmart and Costco did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Angelo Barrio, 55, a retired garment industry professional, said Trump's tactics of "muddying the water and causing chaos" have worried him and his friends about the economy's direction.

Barrio began buying goods with long shelf lives in November as he feared retailers would pass on tariff costs to their customers.

At Costco this week, he stocked up on Crest toothpaste, soap, water and rice to fill six canisters already stuffed with canned goods in his temperature-controlled basement.

At Walmart, he grabbed two more bottles of olive oil, bringing his total stockpile to 20 bottles. "You can never be sure how much you'll need," he said.

She Who Must Be Obeyed (SWMBO) and I will go to Costco soon and I think I will go heavy on coffee. I dare not cross SWMBO in the mornings before has at least one cup of coffee, preferably two. Her sole addiction, other than shoes, so better safe than sorry.

I guess coffee is a survival item.
