Proud Grandpa Bragging.
It has been a while since my last post….matter of fact I can’t remember what it was about.
But now I have something to crow about…… but it also makes me realize. Damn I’m getting old.
My youngest grandchild is a Marine!
This young man decided to be a Marine when he was 13 years old when he met his great grandfather for the first time.
After completing basic and receiving his eagle globe and anchor he flew from Camp Pendleton to Virginia to surprise his idol.
He only had ten days between basic and infantry training so coming across country says a lot for the heart in this young man.
He told us that every time it got tough and he was struggling to make it through. He thought of great grandpa and kept on going.
Proud of this young Marine…… You damn right!
Ladies and gentlemen let me introduce my Father in Law and Grandson. Our oldest and youngest Marines aged 93 and 20.

Re: Proud Grandpa Bragging.
Thank you all for your kindness. I will let him know that he has fans in this group. He was slightly out of uniform, he forgot to bring his expert rifle badge. The boy can shoot. He went to work at a gun shop and range in Phoenix a few days after his 18th birthday.
I thought he should have the National Defense ribbon. But he said they weren’t issued because the country isn’t currently involved in a qualifying conflict.
If he gets his requested school he will start aviation mechanic training after infantry. He wants to work on Harriers.
A couple more brag photos

Re: Proud Grandpa Bragging.
Congratulations, getting through bootcamp is an accomplishment. Not everyone could do it. I spent my career mostly in aviation, with a couple of special assignments. The bulk as an Aviation Electrician on CH46s, CH53s, Hueys, and Cobras. When we deployed... as a composite squadron... We always took four Harriers along.
I hope he gets what he wants... But if he gets assigned to Helos, he could become a 1st Mech and eventually a crew chief. That would get him wings and flight pay.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.
