Yep, it's a chip shot from there, 47-48 yds.
I found the jacket in Nashville probably 25 or more years ago.
You would not believe the compliments that I get on it.
And never a negative one to date. ;)

That looks like a load used in a movie, some serious flash on that one.
Very cool!

The powder is H335, which I've read lately is known for such flashes. :D   ;)

I used to load for my DW 44 mag using Sierra 180 bullets and 296. I was trying to get something as fast as possible, but the resulting loads, when I screwed the 6" barrel into that revolver, would flash like your pictures. I used to shoot at this indoor range in Hoboken, NJ, right by the NJ entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel. I'd bring a buddy that didn't shoot, and he loved those loads. People that were shooting at the range would walk over to see what the heck that was. It looked like someone was taking flash pictures with every shot.
Those loads weren't very accurate, but were fun for that purpose.

+Randy, That is what I call flash photography. I did not notice ear plugs but I am sure they must have been in use. Was there any un-burned powder in the fired brass?

Ah, ya got me, was in a hurry to get the shot caught on camera and forgot the ears.
The wife and son both grab a pair. ;) :D
Only one shot, and I'm already deaf as can be. No un-burned powder.

Loaded up a few trial loads with some 300 gr. xtp a couple days ago and tried them out this afternoon.

Oh yes, Sir. They were laying right there, and not just for the pic. :D And the lead sled also.
After a few rounds of these, my old boney shoulders are done for.
Neither load was max. and I plan on bumping them up a few more grains to see of there are any gains to be made.

Thank God for good ear protection and lead sleds...

Only three shots with the RL-7, had a faulty cci primer, I tried it twice, but was a no go. :o
This one from yesterday is the best with this bullet so far.

Sorry not a Henry today. Ruger 10/22. Last good weather day for a while. I'll do the Henry's when it warms up some.

So loaded up my 10/22 stepped out to the back porch.

Details:
Weather: Sunny, 50deg, no appreciable wind.
Range: 25yds
Rifle:Ruger 10/22 w/BX trigger, redneck cheek riser, bench rest.
Scope: 3-9x40 Barska from Wally world, set to 3X
Ammo: Winchester 40gr SuperX, hp, 1435fps
Mags: 2 ten rnd, 1 BX25
Shots fired: 45 total, no issues.
Sequence of fire: As noted on numbered targets. Zero tweaked on #1, #2, verified on #3, went a little crazy rapid fire on #4.

Not too bad for an old guy with questionable eyesight. :geek:
