We've had a mostly brown winter in this part of Wisconsin but February is behaving in a more seasonable pattern. Caught this pic of me on my trail cam and thought it might give you warmer weather folks an idea what you're missing.

Some kind of ice drags going on close to him.

Thunderstorms, high winds, mid 60's rain all here at the moment.
I think we've weathered the worst of this one hopefully.

We have been having a mild winter for most of the season here in Central Oklahoma, but the last six weeks or so have been see saw weather. We've had temps as high as the upper 60s to mid 70s, and as low as the mid 20s during the day and down in the teens overnight. Today we saw a brief snow shower again, and the temps are headed back down into the 20s, supposed to see single digits this coming week.

The one thing about the Central VA area where we were, is we mostly had FOUR seasons. Mostly. Every now and then we'd get a late patch of off season weather. Out of season warm or cold weather, but for the most part, it was the normal cycle. This see saw stuff kills my arthritis.

Nice setup. I finally had a similar but smaller snowblower on the front of a medium sized John Deere at work. It would really move the snow, even the snow the city would come along later in the day and plow the snow from the road onto the sidewalks. Only problem was I had to start at 5AM no matter what the weather was like. Now that I'm retired I have a Cub Cadet with a small plow and I can go out and plow my driveway as late as I want.

Have a Husqvarna 26 hp lawn tractor with a 42" blower on it. Keeps me and the neighbor mobile. Love your set up 5 shot. Maybe I will get a real tractor when I grow up.
Been mostly snow free this winter. Have blown snow 3 times. Weather guessers are predicting Lake Michigan lake affect snow today so anything goes. Got yesterdays accumulation cleared, an additional inch last night so we are good right now. Have not seen a county plow on our street this week so I cleared the intersection again to allow everyone a safe access to the highway. Live on a dead end road and people do clear the road fronting their property when necessary so all can drive out.

I certainly do NOT miss the snow. I had my fill of it when I lived in the Chicago area. I don't do well with winter at all anymore, mentally or physically.

We've had a normal winter this year. I've used my garden tractor & snowblower more than a handful of times. We have also used our snow shoes and cross country skis.
I have always enjoyed the four seasons in NY State. Spring and Fall could be a bit longer, but soon milder temps will be here and the garden will go in.

We are here till Tuesday morning and I cannot wait to get south.
I will watch the Daytona 500 today.

I'm also upstate NY, and we're having a lot of snow this year. It's been manageable, nothing more than 10-12" per event, with most being half that. I have a Deere 37hp tractor with a plow that articulates left and right, so a good piece of gear for clearing my driveway. It's about 350 yards, with a few areas around the garage that I like to keep clear for turning around and moving the vehicles around. I've thought about getting a snowblower, and a front mount seems like the best option, but those cost about double what a 3-point mounted snowblower would cost. My tractor has the mid mount PTO too, and I like the idea of just turning the chute downwind and letting it fly, but for now, I'm pushing.
I went out Friday afternoon and realized that while we didn't get much snow, it just drifted over all my plowed areas to make about 5-6" along most of the driveway. Hopped on the tractor and within about 90 minutes, all clear again. My issue right now is that we had a day or two in the 40 degree range, a good amount of snow started to melt, and the packed areas on the driveway are now thick slabs of ice. That little bit of dry snow that blows onto the driveway is like the "cheeze" on a shuffleboard table. Completely compromises traction with the tractor too, I'm sliding all over.
I'm sitting here today after having got another 3" last night, with a prediction of another 2-4" between this afternoon and tomorrow.

Now I know why all those guys I talked to when buying my tractor kept suggesting I get one fully enclosed. Unfortunately, mine is not.

Neither is mine. I bought it never thinking I would never use it in the winter.

I have a rotary cutter that I use to keep the edges of the fields clear, kind of making trails around them, and for keeping trails clear in other areas around the property too, and I love being open to the elements while doing that.
I am also a fairly new tractor operator, and I like being able to hear it run. Those weird noises get looked at faster that way. I laugh with my neighbors that I need to have some kid year old from a nearby farm come show me all the things I'm doing the hard way.

5shot here in the INLAND Pacific Northwest we have experienced the same strange winter you have. Only in the last couple of weeks have we had any snow that stuck around long enough to plow/shovel. Last night we had 3” and it’s supposed to snow on and off all day so I’ll be out in it moving it from point A to point B.

Love your setup with that tractor mounted blower.

I lived in the western burbs of Chicago and I also do not miss that white stuff.

That’s how I do it, I find that snow responds better to a push than a pull. Can lead to a stiff neck tho.

I keep the blade like it is a plow backwards. If I turn the blade around and use it court digs in too much.

I keep the blade like it is a plow backwards. If I turn the blade around and use it court digs in too much.

Yes, I've noticed that with mine too. Takes finesse-practice to get the blade just the right height, and we don't get enough snow often enough to get the height dialed in. I tried what you do with the blade in that orientation, and once there is enough snow built up behind the blade, the blade wants to lift and slide up on top of the pile I'm trying to push. My 3pt hitch does not prevent the blade from lifting.
