They sent a good many back, get this.
Because their Trucks couldn't pass their emissions requirements.

How do we know which is the truth? Just because another story says it’s false doesn’t make it so. I don’t believe any of the news one way or the other.

Locally officially no snow fell yet I’m seeing eight inches outside. The temperature is reported to be -9F yet my thermometer is reading-17F. Or maybe I’m lying about the snow and temperature. You never know.

Yes, the accuracy those pilots have with both the water and the retardant is amazing.

I heard this morning on the tv news that on New Years Eve there was a fireworks started fire right in the same location of the start of the Palisades fire. I’ve heard some talk of this for a few days but this morning I saw a video of the NYE fire and it was pretty big. Speculation at this time is the possibility that some embers remained that sparked with the most recent Santa Anna winds.

I am reminded that the Indians used to burn off brush systematically to keep the brush in check. Now days we are
prevented from doing that by rules enacted by folks who don't understand. Yellowstone burned a few years back
because of these same rules.

We live in the middle of hundreds of acres of timber around our lake. I own 10 acres of it. If I start a fire in the woods
burning downed trees in order to clean up the woods, the fire department shows up in full force and after extinguishing
my fire, charges me for the service, and then I am fined. It's actually happened to neighbors.

The thing is we have a lot of downed trees and branches and if a fire starts that's what causes it to become a conflagration.
Good forestry is keeping that fuel to a minimum.

A while back a huge wind storm knocked down thousands of trees in our "Boundary Waters Canoe Area". Now there are no
motorized vehicles of equipment or any kind allowed in those thousands of acres by the environmentalists. It was pointed
out what a fire hazard it was but they would not relent and let the Forest Service in with chain saws. It caught fire from
a lightening strike and burned for several days. There was a tremendous loss of habitat and wild life.

We need to elect folks who use common sense.

It must be quite an exciting ride. I actually flew a mission or two when we dropped napalm.
We came swooping in and pickled the bombs just like what they are doing.

It was probably not this time, but I read where one fire started because of a gender identity display of a pregnancy. People who live in fire prone areas need to also use common sense.

I also saw this morning where one building was saved because it had a metal roof. May sound crude, but I would never live in that area. But if I did, I would have much more than just a metal roof going for me.

Metal roof helps, but also need to keep the rain gutters and down spouts cleaned out.

On another note my son's water drop copter got pulled temporarily because of a bird strike. Seagull.

There is big difference between crap on social media vs legit news sites.

Sight unseen makes it hard to say. If you think it's political, then I would say you probably made the right decision, so thank you CGF.

It is no different here in Aus, the fire we had in 2020 started from a lightening strike, they would not let them put bulldozers in to put containment lines and access tracks because it was national park. They battled it for a week trying to work within the red tape they were handy capped by. A change of condition saw it take off and burn 30,000 acres in a night. They battled again for a week trying to contain it before another change in conditions saw it burn a million acres in a day.

As for fuel load management it is non existent in our national parks and forestry.

These 2 photos show just how much effect a little bit of management can make. They were taken a couple of days after the fire standing in the same spot and looking 2 different directions. One side of the creek we had spent considerable time removing dead fallen and even some standing dead tress, lots of work removing invasive woody weeds like blackberry. There was undoubtably a bit of luck involved but you have to give yourself the best chance of getting lucky. Just about everything around it burnt and you can see it did burn in patches but without the fuel provided by the dead timber woody weeds and years of accumulated fuel it couldnt sustain itself and had no way of getting into the tree canopy.

Exactly Gene, I give up watching the lying news many years ago now. Don't watch the local or World news.
A couple weeks ago we had a shooting on the southside of town, not often there mostly mid town or out north.
A buddy and I were talking about the other night. He was saying about what he looked like on the news.
And I told him for the dozen time I Don't Watch the Garbage.

SO you are right, I have no idea if either is true, and will in future try to refrain from commenting stuff I haven't clue about.
I'll just stick with the lever guns, loading, drinking and adding pics.

You can google fact checkers on this. It's also telling that the two sources (one for Idaho and the other for Oregon) that started this fake have since deleted their social media posts. News media that copied without fact checking are also retracting. As far as credible sources, this is what the Oregon State Fire Marshal put out.
