Yeah, that's coming our way Gunny. They're predicting 2" to 4" here. I guess if it has to be winter, might as well throw a little snow in the mix.

Got a bit more than that up just a little north of ya, Gene.
Looks like a couple inches at the moment and still coming down.

We have a trace of new snow here over a trace of old snow. We should have two to three feet so I envy you guys and enjoyed seeing your pictures.

When's the last time you saw snow on a Magnolia?

Re: Woke up to snow this morning
When I lived in Virginia it did snow a couple of feet of we snow a couple of times. Pretty rare
but then the state would get out both snow plows. In other words, they were not prepared for
it. Being from Minnesota it was really no big deal to me but it was dangerous to go out on the
highways because those natives had no idea how to drive in it and would run into you.
Here in Minnesnowda if we get a couple of foot it's just another day.

Sorry you folks are getting snow but your pictures are really nice.
Re: Woke up to snow this morning
It started snowing a short time ago in the South Carolina Midlands, light snow but snow nonetheless. The weather guessers say it will turn to freezing rain late this evening or tomorrow morning and that is what I do not want.
The weather guessers say Saturday should warm up to the mid-40's so it will probably be gone soon but I worry about ice damage.
In any event, good luck to all.

Re: Woke up to snow this morning
Seattle doesn’t have many snow plows there either. The worst part is the snow is wet or frozen and it’s often glare ice instead of real snow. Here in Wisconsin there are far more plows and the snow is compressed and not all that slick.cooperhawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 9:28 amWhen I lived in Virginia it did snow a couple of feet of we snow a couple of times. Re: Woke up to snow this morning
Got maybe an inch today. My sister had to drive closer to Lake Michigan this morning and told me there was a couple inches of fresh snow there so far. Around here the amount of snow is usually determined by the wind direction off the big lake.

It's headed our way tonight and my location is in the 4-6 inch zone. My backyard still has iced over snow from the last storm.

Well now, that's a rather unique idea. I can see it now, score of Hell's Angels roaring down the street
plowing snow. Come on boys, let's do it!

Re: Woke up to snow this morning
Been snowing all day and around 20º. I have a crabapple tree in the front yard that had a bumper crop of fruit this year. The deer ate all they could reach two weeks ago and today I have at least 50 Robins feeding in this tree. They are flying back and forth to the other trees around the house and unfortunately over my car. The crabapples seem to be going through them pretty quickly.

Re: Woke up to snow this morning
We got some snow as well, starting at about 830am on Thursday and snowing continuously until 230pm on Friday or so. We ended up with about 8 inches. Doesn't sound like much to some people, but when we don't get any at all some winters, and a dusting that doesn't stick most times... it's a lot for our area.
Usually, I'm Told, when it does snow here, you get an inch, or two, and it's melted by lunch.
My first year here, when we bought the new farm... had to get a UTV to get my broken butt around the place. I asked the dealer about a plow attachment for the UTV. After he stopped laughing
... he explained the snow situation ^^^^^
He said he'd order the plow kit for me, but I'd likely never take it out of the box. So... never mind. (Besides, we had the bucket and blade for the Kubota.
First year, we got this:
Next time I was in the dealer, I had that pic on my phone. HE said I brought it with me from the Virginia Mountains.
Friday Night, this was the view on the Security Cams...
The night vision on the cams work pretty well with a bit of moon reflected off the snow huh? You can see Tina's track leading to the coops and the barn clearly. There are some deer tracks in the paddock area and around the coop but they aren't so clear. Fiona doesn't care for 8" snow since she has 4" legs.
This morning I took a pic from the front porch. The snow has started to melt a bit and the roads have gotten a bit of travel now that it has warmed up. I'll bet we had at least ten cars up and down the roads at 10 am when I took that pic.
Supposed to be in the Mid 40s over the next few days, maybe hit the mid 50s before the end of the week before it drops back down by the weekend. Perhaps MOST of the snow will have melted by then.
None in the near forecast.
