Counting The Days Till It’s Warm Again
Looking at the weather forecast for the next ten days is depressing. The high will be 27 but mostly in the teens. The low will be -3 and mostly above single digits. I guess it would be more bearable if we had enough snow to go snowshoeing. As it is I stay home and count the days till I can work in the shop.

Re: Counting The Days Till It’s Warm Again
Several years ago a contractor friend of mine and I converted this old two car garage up on a hill into a shop. I had built a new three car garage onto the house and no longer used it for vehicles, so I decided to make a shop out of it. It is heated, air conditioned, and has a slat wall in back for lots of shelving. Here you can see the process of building work benches. I use it almost every day for something and during this cold weather I spend a lot of time in there.

Re: Counting The Days Till It’s Warm Again
Did I mention that it is super insulated so the heat and AC are very affordable.
The only thing is I wish I had a front window so I can see when someone drives into the yard.
Maybe someday...........
I just purchased a wood turning lathe and am just starting to use it. I have gas welder, a stick welder, and a wire feed welder
for metal work as well as a chop saw.
I am in my mid 80s and feel very blessed to live where I do.

Coop, that’s a great looking shop both inside and out. Only issue I see is that very icy road.
Your interior is wonderful.

Re: Counting The Days Till It’s Warm Again
That icy road isn't much of a problem. There is a stairs to the right of the picture that you can't see and the 4-wheeler
that I keep in the shop has tire chains.
Right now the drive is bare crushed rock but even when it is iced up it's no problem for the new garage. That's why we
built it onto the house. It was a bear to get a car up that hill to the old garage in the Winter.
200 yard east down the drive and through the woods is my 40x60 pole barn where I keep the snow plow and tractors.
It also contains our 35 ft motorhome.

Yes, it's been another winter without much snow and up here that adds to the depressed mood. Our area depends so heavily on winter sports for the winter economy and just plain winter outdoor fun. I haven't even bothered to wax up the XC skis, yet. You know you're living in the north woods when people complain about not enough snow.Sir Henry wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 9:23 amLooking at the weather forecast for the next ten days is depressing. Re: Counting The Days Till It’s Warm Again
Mine is only insulated so-so. When it’s totally completed it will be better although I doubt it will ever be a four season shop. Yous looks very nicely finished.cooperhawk wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 10:19 amDid I mention that it is super insulated so the heat and AC are very affordable.

I'm with you Gene. There isn't much snow here, but it's cold. I like to take a walk with a shotgun in the afternoon. Some would call it rabbit hunting. Based on the number of rabbits I've seen, I'll stick to saying I'm taking a walk.
I'd like to snow shoe also.

I wanted to throw a steak on the Barbie but it won’t fire up so I cooked it inside.
I went to the local old fashioned butcher shop and bought a fillet mignon.
I put some Fleetwood Mac on and cranked it up.
The steak was cooked to medium rare and melted in my mouth.
Now back to reality and time to do the laundry.
