The World Series:

Post by cooperhawk » Wed Oct 30, 2024 9:25 am

Carol and I stay pretty busy all Summer but in the Fall we like to watch the baseball playoffs and of course the World Serious. :D
This year we've been disappointed in the performance of the vaulted New York Yankees against the L A Dodgers. We tuned in last
night thinking this would be a four game series and last night would end it.
Boy were we surprised. When Volpe hit the home run the game took off. Great fun to watch from then on.
Understand, we aren't cheering for either team, we just want to watch good baseball.
Freddy Freeman has been magnificent so far. A home run in every game.
The pitching hasn't impressed us much. I think the managers must have used their entire bull pen a couple of times by now.
Game 5 is in New York tonight and if LA wins that would end, it so it's sudden death from now on. We hope NY wins so the
series will go on for a bit.
It sure beats watching the news with all the election BS going on.

I’ve listened to Brewer games all summer and into their short playoffs. The gang came over last night and we watched game four in the motor home. I’ve watched all four games and was hoping for a four game World Series. No team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit and I hope the Yankees aren’t the first.

It would be such a stunning and historic event if the Yankees could manage to win the Series this year.

Anything's possible. Long standing records are falling quickly nowadays. As for that blasted news... this year we've been witness to once-in-a-lifetime wildfires, floods, rainfall, mud, wind, drought, and heat.

So, I'm hoping the Yankees win, too. Just for the fun of it. The victory parade through NYC would be another amazing 2024 spectacle, like watching a solar eclipse or seeing Aurora Borealis in the backyard.

Go, Yankees.

I don't care who wins as long as it's good baseball. We love watching excellence in action in October. :D

Well, it's a love hate situation.
We got our wish for some good baseball, but also the series came to an early end.
It was a good game and I think the best team won. You just can't make all the errors
the Yankees made and win.
It was a fun game though.

When did this crap become acceptable? Nothing will be done with them either and thats the reason it keeps happening because nothing gets done.

I turned on the news but didn't see anything. What? Riots in LA?

decades ago the Yankees and then Brooklyn Dodgers were the favorite teams for many folks on the central east coast .... it remained pretty much that way until the Braves moved to Atlanta .... until then I pulled for the Yankees .... it was good to see them back in the series .... I once knew a great deal about the players, now days I only knew the names of a couple of them ..... while there are really good players on both teams, I do believe that in this year's series, the Dodgers were the better team .... I enjoyed watching all 5 games and would have liked for it to go to a full 7 games

Minneapolis at night is a war zone.

Uptown in Minneapolis is like that on weekends. There is a shortage of police officers.
Wonder why?

Growing up in Sioux Falls my team was the Milwaukee Braves with Hank, Warren Spahn,Eddie Mathews and the Alou brothers. This was before The Senators move to Minneapolis and became the Twins. After the move, I was really P.O. I lost interest in baseball at that time. Still really don't care. There are consequences when you break a young boy's heart.
