Had a chance to watch the vids. Interesting little 22lr lever gun. I'm not sure I'd take it over a henry. I'd have to see it in person.

Glad to see more lever guns on the market and more folks shooting lever guns. That's a good thing. Can't say I'm in any hurry to buy that new Savage, though. I'll just wait and see on this one.

Well, Walnut is a hard wood.

If it's like the last few newer Savage rifles I've and owned, I'll bet it is accurate.
But it's too ugly for my taste.

I've said it before, it seems like many of the gun manufacturers are making lever actions to try and copy the success of Henry. So far, I'm not impressed. I did see a new Heritage lever up close. I wasn't impressed.

I like the take down for cleaning assuming that the gun remains tight considering that design.

I do also, I think the classic look would be my choice. Where is my threaded barrel? Upwards of 3 million cans sold and form 4'd last year and they don't thread the barrel.....

Crossbolt safety what a cop out. Also notice that the shooter in the video did not shoot at a target and show the results. I guess that I will keep my Marlin 39 and my H.R. A. pump .22.

I like what I saw. The fast takedown would be a real plus for me. One of the things I like it is the action is solid with the barrel and would not have to be re-sighted in every time I do a complete cleaning of the action. This is not a problem with barrel mounted iron sights but I either use a Williams peep on the cover plate or a scope.

I have had so many problems with Henry barrels and fit and finish that Savage's reputation for accuracy would get my vote. I also noticed that the lever fits flush with the stock when closed. I have never liked the springy feeling or the look of the gap on the Henry.

It will be interesting to see the reviews and price point.

I realize that at this point all we're likely to see is promotional and glossy marketing reviews, but hearing reviewers trying to impress everyone because a new model of gun actually goes bang and then giving a pass to a trigger because, well, it's a lever gun doesn't make me want to rush out and buy one. I'm not a purist about a cross bolt safety on a lever gun, but that is one ugly cross bolt safety on this gun. Did they have to mould that entire receiver around it?

Yeah, I agree, Savage and S&W are trying to capture some of the lever gun market from Henry at these price points.

All of the normal marketing blurbs say "walnut" without specifics. Only the table of model specification says "turkish walnut".

Overall, it seems like a competitor for Winchester Ranger. Same takedown mechanism.

I'm quite certain that it's made in Turkey, even if they don't want to admit it. Maybe they do some final assembly steps in the U.S., for marketing purposes.
