500 grain test loads

Loaded up 5 test rounds for my Henry 45-70, 500 grain HC with 31.3 grains of LT-32 COL: 2.500 compared to my normal 350 grain loads.

Talk about a howitzer! What kind of velocity will you be getting with those?

Should be around 1300 fps at 27000 pressure

Black Butterfly makes these rounds but as of now I do not know who makes the bullet itself. Bought a box to try and do like how they shoot! Not a bad idea to keep some handy and they are a great round to have for the little Mules Leg lever shooter being easy to control!

Range day today shooting the 500 grain HC rounds. I made 5 additional ones using 31 grains of H4895 for trap door. What really surprised me was both were relatively tame when it came to recoil. I was expecting more of a recoil. My 350 grain HC rounds loaded with 55 grains of H4895 had way more recoil than the 500 grain rounds. 10 rounds down range.
