Green vs Red dot and 45acp

Last weekend I was moving some stuff around under the bench and came across a big handful of 200 gr rn 45 bullets that came from Mb co. I decided to stuff in some 45 acp brass.
Half with 4.0 grs of Red dot and the others with 4.3 grs of Green dot.
So just a short while ago I went down to the barn and try 'em out.
I have a Ruger Blackhawk convertible and the acp cylinder works as well in the Vaquero as it does in the BH.
I also brought along the High Standard 1911 for good measure. Both loadings worked fine in the 1911 with no hiccups.
Roughly 7 yds. The GD load was slightly milder than the RD, but both were quite mild. Like something you could literally shoot all day.

Nice shootin there Randy. I had a Ruger 45 Colt and 45 ACP convertible at one point. It shot very well with the 45 ACP loads. Really like the Ruger Convertibles. Saw a Ruger Blackhawk 10mm with a 40 S&W cylinder today sell for 1249.00 on GB. Little on the steep side for me.

Al, I haven't seen any around here in a while of any flavor.
I've had a couple of the 357/9mm.

Tom, I didn't realize they made those, that'd be neat.

Gene, I bought the grip frame from Midway and swapped it out my self.
It's a little proud on the left, but I'm not Forty.
I like it other than that, it doesn't really bother me much as it's a shooter not a show piece.

I haven't seen any GD around that I can remember in a good while, but it's not something that I've actually looked for either.
This that I have was given to me 4 or so yrs. ago. I think I tried it in a 32 s&w once.
I was just scanning through the Lee manual at the 200 gr lead section and noticed it and thought what the heck.
I may now keep any eye open for some, I still see Red dot from time to time and have a few pounds on hand.
Have read that the Promo powder is suppose to be the same as RD, thinking the next time I see some I'll grab at least a lb. to try.

I wouldn't know as I've never used bullseye in anything.

Can't comment on the loading data or results, but having owned a Ruger Blackhawk 45 convertible with the 45 ACP cylinder, I can tell you that shooting 45 ACP out of a revolver is a hoot and MUCH less expensive than shooting 45 Colt if you don't reload. My Blackhawk was a 4 5/8" barrel version and accuracy with the 45 ACP was right there with my 1911s. (I can also tell you that shooting Ruger only 45 Colt loads in that Blackhawk was like getting run over by a semi-truck. Worse than any 44 mag I've shot.)
